Annie Lennox is one of the most iconic and stunning voices in pop music today. She has recorded some of the most memorable and long lasting songs ever, Sweet Dreams, Here Comes The Rain Again, Why, Walking on Broken Glass, Little Bird, and tons more.
To celebrate the release of her new album of covers, Nostalgia. It features covers of Georgia on My Mind, I Put A Spell on You, and several other classic songs, Annie Lennox had an LP signing at Amoeba Music.
I made sure to get the signing ticket and both Scotty and Ace were going to come with me as well. Sadly Ace had to cancel but Scotty and I headed over. The line up started before 4 p.m. and we joined in. Neither Scotty or myself could get there as early as we wanted to, doh!
Still, we didn’t have long to wait until part of the line was taken inside. We were given the strict rules, no photos with Annie, she would only sign the new LP, etc… Thankfully, we were able to breathe, which was nice because it’s hard to hold your breath that long.
After getting into Amoeba Music, we saw Annie Lennox from a distance and she looked so nice. She really was spending time with each person.
The line was moving steady and very organized, I was getting more and more nervous. Annie Lennox is one of my favorites and anytime you get to see her, is a rare treat.
When I got up to the front of the line, I was checked to make sure I didn’t have other memorabilia. Heaven forbid we have a different album or something. Sigh…
I will say, that Annie Lennox was super adorable. I told her how excited I was for the new album and asked that she sign it, “To mike, I put a spell on you” which is of course the new single. We talked for a hot second about the new album, and I thanked her for all her work with the SING campaign.
It’s always so short, the encounters at signings, but it’s a nice moment. I was also able to get Ace’s LP signed as well.
It was a great event and I’m hoping that Amoeba and other music stores will still continue to do them. It would have been nice if you could get the new album and another piece of memorabilia done, Amoeba has done it in the past. But that’s here nor there. It was a great evening and Annie Lennox is so sweet and kind just like you would expect.
Until next time kids…
