August: Osage County AFI Screening Report! Meeting George Clooney & Juliette Lewis! Autographs! Photos! Facts Of Life Goodness!
AFI has a tremendous list of films this year and one of the films I’m most excited about August: Osage County had a gala premiere there. Now, AFI never releases a list of people in attendance, so you just never know who will be there.
I heard that It was mainly going to be the supporting cast but I figured it was worth a shot. I headed down and Scotty soon joined me at the barricade. I of course brought with me a bunch of stuff. Sigh… I feel like a pack mule sometimes. What can you do right?
We had time to kill so I talked with Scotty who soon dissed me for a spot in the second row. Nice Scotty, nice… LOL, Sometimes second row is better, me.. I like the front. It’s a preference issue.
There are people barking about $5.00 T-shirts, and the Wax Museum is blaring Britney Spears at a decibel that would make Joni Mitchell weep. And yet still… I wait.
A homeless woman is sleeping on the steps next to us in the middle of all the chaos. I guess any port in a storm. Everyone comes to Hollywood… What’s your dream.
People are starting to show up for the event. We have about another hour or so until the stars arrive. I’m hoping Julia Roberts Surprises everyone, but I’m not holding my breath. Sigh…
I do think that George Clooney might be here. He’s a producer on the film and has been out and about to help promote it.
It’s finally about time for the premiere to start. There is a smaller movie before hand which is something AFI does to get smaller indie films some press. I think that’s cool.
Finally it’s about to start! Some people are showing up, but no one from the film yet.
Then, it’s none other than George Clooney! Holy Shit!
I’ve never met George Clooney and this is pretty damn awesome.
He is the chillest guy ever, even if the crowd is going mad for him.
He signs and signs and is so unpretentious and just a regular guy. It’s pretty damn impressive.
He saw my From Dusk Till Dawn Mini poster and was like, “Oh, vintage! Nice!” and then he signed my Up in the Air poster as well.
It probably took all of 45 seconds but I was seriously impressed.
George hit the red carpet and we continued to wait.
Dermot Mulroney is here and is walking on the carpet, and… Oh crap there’s Juliette Lewis! Hello, From Dusk Till Dawn!
She is adorable. Seriously, one of the nicest people ever!
She comes over and signs and chats and talks to people. She signed my From Dusk Till Dawn mini poster and then I asked her to sign my Kalifornia license plate (yes, I have really random crap).
She looked at it, and said, “Oh my God. That is so cool!” Then she signed a few more and said, “you guys brought the best stuff! Not just crappy 8×12 photos!”
And then she hit the carpet as well…
We waited for Julia Roberts but alas the press packed it in. We did see Chris Cooper but he came in the other side and walked onto the carpet so we didn’t have a chance to call him over. Doh!
Still… It was an awesome nice! I finished my Up in the Air mini poster, and got two people on From Dusk Till Dawn… That’s pretty good!
Until next time kids…
