Black Friday Deals! Outlander Blu Ray! Signed books by Diana Gabaldon! SE Hinton! Drew Barrymore!

Black Friday madness is nearly upon us! The massive shopping day (so called Black Friday since it used to be the day stores finally got into the black aka profitable) kick off the start of the holiday shopping season.  If you’re building your attack plan, here are a few specials to keep in mind!

Target has its usually array of doorbuster deals which begin Thursday night until they sell out of stock. If you haven’t bought the first half of Outlander’s first season on blu ray, now is a great time to buy since it’ll be on sale for $10.  Yep. Even Target believes everyone should own a copy.

If you’re looking for a copy of Outlander (the book) signed by Diana Gabldon, head to your local Barnes and Noble on Friday! For Black Friday, each Barnes and Noble store will have a slew of signed books for sale.  While each author signed around 4500 books for this event, there are so many stores that each will only have a very limited number of each title so get there early if you’re dying for one in particular. Don’t forget that its Small business Saturday so visit your local independent bookstore. Many are hosting sales, giveaways and maybe even an author event. Chicago has a couple of great indie stores that do mail order so if you’re still looking for a signed book, you can browse Anderson’s Bookshop (for signed books by Marissa Meyer), The Book Stall (Rainbow Rowell, Sarah Dessen, Sabaa Tahir and even Susan Cooper of The Dark is Rising!) and also The Book Cellar who has signed John Green books (including The Fault in Our Stars). Anderson’s and The Book Stall also have a ton of books signed by Veronica Roth since she’s a local. Call the stores to confirm they have the books in stock since these aren’t always listed.

Stay tuned!
