Box Office Breakdown! Apes Rule Again! Sex Tape Sputters Out! Planes Plops! And More!
This weekend was revenge of the movie sequels at the box office. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was number one for the second week in a row. Though I didn’t predict that, I did correctly predict the reigning champ of the new releases.
The Purge: Anarchy came in at number two with $28.3 million, which was $6 million less than its predecessor.

Planes: Fire & Rescue took a nose dive and opened at number three with $18 million, which was $4 million less than its predecessor.
Sex Tape was in a sticky situation, opening at number four with just $15 million.
Transformers: Age of Extinction plummeted to number five with $10 million and a domestic total of $227 million versus a $210 million budget.
Tammy tumbled to number six with $7.6 million for a domestic total of $71.5 million. Not too shabby for a comedy whose budget was only $20 million.
22 Jump Street was charged with being a mega hit at number seven with $4.7 million. After six weeks in release, this $50 million comedy has grossed $267 million worldwide.
How to Train Your Dragon 2 flew into number eight with $3.8 million for a domestic total of $160 million, which is far below its predecessor.
Maleficent brewed another $3.3 million at number nine for a worldwide gross of $697 million after eight weeks in release.
Rounding out the top ten was Earth to Echo with $3.2 million and a total gross of $32 million. Houston, we have a flop.

Until then, happy movie going.

Boom! Bottom rung of the ladder! Better luck next time.
Flop flop fizz fizz!
Who wants to see Jason Segel in a sex tape. Bleh.
Oh Susan,
Time is short and I will be brief. You are the pinnacle of sunshine and love. Goodness and prosperity, when I want to reach for the skies, I think of Suddenly Susan and dancing, dancing like a pricker in my buttocks, like a wind wafting through the breeze.
I know your quest is imminent and I looked back at your adventures and smiled when you greeted me with open arms and love. When I think of love, it reeks of Suddenly Susan, positively Suddenly Susan. I can only hope that you’re love, touches my love and we both love together.
Hugs and hands to hold. Oh Susan, if only our love could stretch through the miles. Across the oceans, hands outstretched. I want to bathe in our joy, I want to soak in the love of our sisterhood.
Now Suddenly Susan, I know the quest is on the horizon and I must hear you, I must see your voice and words. Oh Susan, where are you? I must plop and primp you so you’re ready for the day, the days, the weeks of your journey. I would rub the small of your back, I would massage your feet and polish your sword. Oh Susan…
Ahem… You must be good to the bohunk. Susan. YOU MUST. He is a wondrous creature but in a different way than Suddenly Susan. His heart brims and he shoots true and straight. You must help him in the mornings and use your love and positivity. The mothly is also involved. Rub his head for luck.
Oh Susan, how I wish I could lap up all your love on the quest. It’s your time now… Fly… FLY LIKE A BIRDIE! Fly like a swooping crane who nestles the top of the lake with his beak.
Susan, you are glorious. You are amazing and I know you and the bohunk will be awesome.
All my life and the life of the villagers are on your shoulders. Everything we have is laid at your feet and our lives are there to cheer you on. You are the Susan. Suddenly Susan. Don’t forget when the walk is hard and there is a pebble in your shoe. Think of me, think of Wanda, bathing in your love an light.
I wish I was there for you Suddenly Susan. I want to smell your essence, but it’s time for you. Go and fly, little birdie. I’m here dancing and making mudpies for your and the bohunks victory. I might need to take out a chicken for the bohunk again. Sleep, eat and drink.
I’m always here Suddenly Susan… I’m here.
QUEST! QUEST! QUEST!
How could I possibly fail with all those wonderful words you have to say about me?
Thank you Wanda – we’ll be back soon.
