Man, the God Of Thunder stormed his way to the top of the box office this week!
God bless Chris Hemsworth! In fact Thor: The Dark World took in 20 million dollars more than the first Thor film! Niiiiiiiiiice!
Check out Susan’s Full recap below!
No surprises at the box office this week. Thor the Dark World pummeled the competition, taking in $86 million in its opening weekend! Its predecessor took in $65 million its opening weekend, so this is an impressive increase to the franchise.
Bad Grandpa hung tough at the number two spot for the third week in a row with $11.3 million. There’s no shame there in being second banana.
Free birds actually climbed up a spot to number three with $11.8 million. If it can maintain this position, it should recoup its $55 million budget.
The boys from Last Vegas added another $11 million to their domestic total of $33.5 million.
Ender’s Game fell considerably to the number five spot after a luke warm opening at number one last week. The jury is still out on whether Lionsgate will continue this expensive franchise.
Gravity came in at number six with another $8.4 million to add to its $231 million domestic total.
12 Years a Slave opened to more theatres again this week and managed to stay at the number seven spot with $6.6 million.
Captain Phillips sailed down to the number eight spot with $5.8 million, maintaining its course for an easy $100 million domestic total.
Add another $5 million to the time traveling dramedy About Time, which actually climbed from last week’s opening number thirteen spot to this week’s number nine position. Good word of mouth may help it recoup its losses.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 rounded out the top ten with $2.8 million, bring tis domestic total to $109 million, which isn’t too far behind its predecessor’s $124 domestic total.

Next week I’m predicting Thor: The Dark World will maintain the top spot even with a huge drop in ticket sales. Best Man Holiday should come in close behind.
Tune in to see if I’m right!
Until then, happy movie going.
