I’m officially the smartest person alive when it comes to predicting the box office… that or the luckiest! Ender’s Game indeed came in at number one with $28 million. With a budget of $110 million, I don’t think anyone at Paramount is jumping for joy. Ender’s Game could ultimately find success if it plays well overseas.
Slipping slightly, but not breaking a hip, was Bad Grandpa, who came in at number two with $20.5 million. The movie has more than quadrupled its $15 million budget in just two weeks!
The senior comedy Last Vegas came in at number three with $16.5 million. Not a bad showing, but certainly nothing to write home about from the retirement facility.
Relativity’s animated comedy Free Birds got cooked at number four with $16.2 million. Though I personally love the message of vegetarianism, I don’t think parents were keen to have their children to start bawling over their Thanksgiving Day dinner.
Gravity got knocked down to the number five spot earning $13 million. It was bound to happen, but after earning a domestic total of $220 million in just five weeks, there’s something to major to celebrate.
Captain Phillips lost a little wind in its sails, falling to number six, but earning another $8.5 million to its impressive domestic total.
12 Years a Slave opened to just 410 theatres, but still managed $4.6 million in ticket sales. That should prove it worthy of a wider release.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 still has quite an appetite, coming in at number eight with another $4.2 million after eight weeks in release. That’s one amazing recipe for a hit!
Carrie telekinetically fell to the number nine spot with $3.4 million after just three weeks in release. I think we can kiss her goodnight and out of the top ten next week.
The Counselor was served a harsh sentence, rounding out the top ten after its second week in release and just $3.2 million added to its domestic gross of $13 million.

Next week I’m predicting Thor: The Dark World will pulverize the competition and take the top spot in upwards of $70 million.
Tune in to see if I’m right!
Until then, happy movie going.
Nice one Suze-
Thor is going to be massive. That Chris man, he is a huge rockin’ dude. You can’t go wrong with Thor.
I hope Ender’s Game bombs. It looks horrible and I don’t want that nasty man to get any more cash.
