It must have been written in the stars that my top box office prediction was correct, as Gravity blasted off with $55.5 million for the number one spot!! The Warner Brothers hit also has its sights set on awards season. I have to say, it’s definitely deserving.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 slipped just one spot to number two chomping down another $21.5 million in ticket sales.

Runner Runner crossed the finish line at number three with just $7.6 million. Looks like Mr. Timberlake still hasn’t proven himself as a bankable star. Perhaps Ben was able to give him some advice on that while they were on set?

The heavy hearted drama Prisoners is still holding strong at number four adding $4.7 million to its $48 million domestic total.

The racecar drama Rush is petering out at number five with just $4.4 million bringing its domestic total to $18 million. With a $38 million budget, Universal will have a hard time recouping their money.

Don Jon, the Joseph Gordon-Douche vehicle fell to the number six spot with just $4 million. Hopefully, it will be out of the top ten next week. Let’s see Mr. Pretentious ignore the fact that his movie flopped.

The Fox comedy Baggage Claim fell to the number seven spot, but with a modest budget, their domestic total of $15 isn’t too hefty of a loss.

Insidious Chapter 2 had a few more scares left at number eight and with a budget of just $5 million; their domestic total of $75 million is pretty darn impressive.

Lionsgate’s musical romantic comedy Pulling Strings hit a sour note opening at number nine with just $2.5 million.

The indie Enough Said, featuring one of James Gandolfini’s last performances, rounded out the top ten after screening to wider release this week.
