Box Office Breakdown! Fury Blows The Competition Away! Gone Girl #2! The Judge Falls! And More!
Brad Pitt battled for the top spot and both he and I came out victorious. Fury opened at number one this weekend, taking in $23.5 million.
Gone Girl slipped a spot to number two with another $17.8 million for its $107 million domestic total.
The Book of Life got a lesson in failure, opening at number three with $17 million. At that rate, its $50 million budget will be hard to make back.
Alexander came in at number four with $12 million for a domestic total of $36.8 million. With a relatively modest budget of $28 million, that’s a not so bad, shouldn’t complain, modest, very ok profit.
The Best of Me failed to find the love, opening at number five with $10.2 million. The spark has died in these cheesy romance dramas.
Dracula Untold took a nose dive to number six taking just a $9.8 million bite out of the weekend box office.
The Judge was sentenced to number seven by audiences with $7.9 million and a domestic total of $26.8 million. That amount is about what The Avengers made in 12 minutes of screen time.
Annabelle conjured up another $7.9 million for a domestic total of $74 million. With a $6.5 million budget, I’m sure part three is just around the corner.
The Equalizer balanced out at number eight with $5.4 million. The profit margin is nothing to cheer about, yet a sequel has already been greenlit. Never under estimate the power of Denzel.
Rounding out the top ten was The Maze Runner with $4.5 million. After five weeks in release, its worldwide gross is up to $251 million.

Next week Keanu Reeves battles dark spirits in a John Wick versus Ouija showdown. Fury could also hang onto the top spot. But, since it’s close to Halloween, I’ll put my ticket stubs on Ouija for the win. Tune in to see if I;m right. Until then, happy movie going!
