Box Office Breakdown! The Hobbit Rockets To The Top! Night At The Museum 3 Only Makes 17 Million! Doh!
It’s no surprise the The Hobbit stood tall this weekend and slayed the competition. Its five day total was $90.6 million with $56.2 million over the weekend. This trilogy will certainly go out with a bang.
Night at the Museum 3 opened at number two with just $17.3 million. Perhaps it was just too sad and too soon to see one of Robin Williams’ final performances.
Annie opened at number three with $16.3 million over five days. The sun may come out tomorrow, but what about movie goers?
Exodus Gods and Kings will be exiting soon, dropping to number four with just $8 million. Thou shalt not make bad biblical epics.
The Hunger Games is still catching fire after five weeks and number five with $7.7 million and a domestic total of $289.2 million.
Wild trekked up to number six with $4.1 million. Good word of mouth is helping Reese Witherspoon’s Oscar hopeful build some momentum.
Top Five stepped back to number seven with $3.5 million and a domestic total of $12.4 million.
Big Hero 6 lost some air and fell to number eight with $3.5 million, but has a domestic total of $190.4 million so far.
Penguins of Madagascar fluttered to number nine with $3.5 million. This stinker will need to be put down.
Rounding out the top ten was the foreign film, P.K. Which opened to $3.4 million.

Next week, Angelina Jolie’s pet project Unbroken takes on the Hobbits of middle earth as well as the star studded ensemble Into the Woods. I’ll put my money on Disney’s new musical to take the top spot.
Tune in to see if I’m right. Until then, happy movie going!

Budanga!
Hobbit kicked it. You like that one fangirl, I know you do. Lovin’ the Hobbit and elves.
I don’t like the main elf, he’s a creepy cat.
You know, I’m glad the Hobbit has made money.
It’s good to see it end so we can miss it.
