I have to tell you, I have been binge watching Parks and Recreation and it is… Literally… One of the best shows on television. Seriously, It’s hysterical.
So, I thought what a perfect time for a Throwback Thurs!
One of the most awesome people on the show is Chris Pratt. Now, he’s amazing in Guardians, and I’m sure the Jurassic World is going to be awesome. But as Andy Dwyer, he is so frakkin’ funny.
Suddenly Susan heard that Parks and Recreation was filming and even though she couldn’t go, she let us know. Scott, Alex and Chris joined me on a fanboy adventure. You just never know what’s going to happen when you go to a set, it could be good or a waste of time.
We spotted the set and honestly, it didn’t look good at all. It didn’t seem to be accessible, we got out to look around and one of the security guards started yelling, “We got a couple boogies over here.”
so we were going to leave and then spotted basecamp.
We walked over there and even though it really wasn’t that great because everything was so closed off, we spotted Aziz Ansari leaving for the day. Doh!
So, we decided to wait a bit and see if we could find anything.
Alex held his Guardians of the Galaxy poster out hoping that someone would see him.
Scott left because he was freezing and it didn’t seem like anything was going to happen.
It was getting really cold, we were planning on leaving as well and then suddenly we spotted Chris Pratt driving in! Doh!
It was totally him, but the problem was, everything was so closed off, that’s all we saw. He parked all the way in so we couldn’t see crap. Doh…
What to do, what to do.
We decided to give it a little bit. Then Amy Poehler drove by in one of the buses. She looked over at us and smiled. So, since people could see us driving by, then maybe we could at least see Chris. We couldn’t see anyone really, so it’s not like it was anyone’s fault if they didn’t stop.
We keep waiting, and the temperature keeps dropping, and then suddenly… In the distance we see something… I thought it was Chris and we yell for him.
Well… It wasn’t Chris Pratt. Doh… FAIL!
So, now I feel stupid.
What can you do right?
Then about 15 minutes later, we see Chris, literally, he’s like a block away inside basecamp and we yell for him.
It’s so dark we can’t see shit at this point. Then the bus pulls out, I have my Parks and Recreation mini poster out, and Alex has his Guardians poster. The bus stops and a guy in the front says, “He said he’ll stop on the way out.”
We were like what?
And then the light comes on in the van and Chris Pratt is in the back and yells, “I’m so sorry guys, I didn’t know you were here! I have to go to set but I’ll come by on the way out.”
We said thanks. And were in shock, It was like out of a movie.
He was so cool.
I called Scott and he jumped in the car and started racing down in the middle of rush hour traffic and we continue to wait.
I think my nose was turning red, it was so cold.
But we waited it out, after a bit we saw Am Poehler leave, Alex saw Adam Scott leave….
We even saw Leslie Knope’s trailer head out for the day.
We waited, and it’s funny because the bleacher’s were already set up for the Rose Bowl parade.
It was a pretty empty street for the most part.
Then suddenly, one of the set buses stops and we see an FBI jacket. Holy shit, Chris Pratt dressed like Bert Macklin FBI from Parks and Rec. I almost died right there.
He was so nice. He apologized for making us wait, and then thanked us for staying. OMG. Can I just tell you, more than anything else, the kindness that Chris Pratt showed was more impressive than him stopping, posing for pictures or signing anything. He was so above and beyond awesome.
He asked us what we had and that he’d be happy to sign everything. Chris and I had Guardians of the Galaxy guns and Chris was like, “Do you want to me to write something on them?”
So Chris wrote #GOTG and Starlord, dying now.
Then he went ahead and signed everything we had. I had the new GQ magazine and it was the first time he’s seen the magazine in print. I told him he had to put a #1 on it because it was the first one he signed!
He was just really awesome. I mean, the sweetest guy ever.
He signed everything we had and then I asked if we could get pictures and he was like, “Of course!”
Scott went first and I said, “let Scott go first because if he doesn’t get his photo, I’ll hear about it for the next 30 years.” LOL.
It was my turn next and we got a great photo
and then I asked Chris if we could do a Andy Dwyer, Mouserat Rock and roll pic!” and he was like, Sure!
Alex and Chris and then got photos as well,
and then Chris said, “Now be careful going home guys!”
Still in disbelief.. I mean… Damn.
Again, it was just how kind and nice and cool the man was that made the moment so special. It was pretty epic, I have to tell you.
I don’t think I’ll ever forget it!
Until next time kids…
