Let me start off by saying, I’ve been a huge fan of Claire Danes for a long long time. When she graced the small screen as Angela on My So-Called Life, a series that in many ways defined a generation.
I mean, how many times have you heard the expression, “He’s my Jordan Catalano.”
It’s rare when a show touches people like that.
Then of course Claire was in two of my other favorites, The Family Stone and Romeo and Juliet.
I’ve never had the fortune to meet Claire Danes and her reputation for being fan friendly isn’t the best, so I was a little apprehensive when I heard that she was getting a star on the Walk of Fame.
I headed down and talked to Chris and Pasadena Mike. They had a spot but I wasn’t convinced it was the right one, so I moved to the other side.
Can I just tell you, it was so hot, I was dripping with sweat. It looked like I was taking a shower, it was that hot.
Some former cast members arrived, Selma Blair was here and then Claire Danes showed up. She looked great! Sadly, because of my spot I couldn’t even see the ceremony.
When the ceremony started, the heat picked up even more.
The speakers were very good. One of the executive producers from Homeland and the mom from My So-Called Life. It was very touching.
Claire’s speech was very good and she even broke down crying at one point.
Then the star was revealed and more photos are to be taken.
Now, usually if people sign, they do it after press interviews. Claire came over before the press interviews to sign, which I thought was really nice considering the heat.
I whipped out my The Family Stone mini poster and she came right over to me. She signed the Family Stone poster and then pretty much stood in front of me the whole time she was signing. Claire Danes signed a My So-Called Life mini poster for me as well, and then I had a friend get my Romeo and Juliet mini poster signed.
She also signed the ad from Variety about he star as well. It was great if you were right there. Sadly not everyone got one, but the people who didn’t got one at the end as she signed going into her car for a few people.
It was fast but she was very kind and signed quite a bit.
I came home, drank two Double Gulp’s full of water and took a second shower.
It was a hot and sticky afternoon, but I’m thankful it all worked out!
Until next time kids…
