Comic Book Crossover! Captain America: The Winter Soldier! Guardians Of The Galaxy Trailer! And This Weeks New Comics!

For this weeks CBC Jim talks about the new Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the Guardians of the Galaxy extended trailer. I have to tell you, I saw Captain America: The Winter Soldier and thought it was amazing. If you’re heading out to theaters, I highly suggest checking it out.

Hello Comic Book fans and welcome back to Comic Book Crossover where we take a look at this weeks hot new publications and how these stories are transitioning from their original four-color medium to Television and Movies.

So last week i told everyone that I was going to the Captain America premiere in Cleveland. A college buddy promised me tickets and at the last minute the passes fell through, it was a long shot but i was really looking forward to it. So instead of attending this jam packed event in Cleveland I went and bought tickets to the Captain America double feature. All I can say is PERFECT! The movie is so good that you can take the super hero element out of the movie and it’ll stand alone as one hell of a spy movie. I don’t want to give anything away so I’m just going to say this, I want more Winter Soldier. 

Before the Cap movie there’s an extended Guardians of the Galaxy trailer and I’m sure all you fanboys out there have seen it already but what you haven’t seen is my Comic Book pick of the week, the Guardians of the Galaxy Prelude. This weeks book is the beginning of a 4 issue series that leads into the movie. In recent years Marvel’s put out limited run stories to get fans excited and to tell additional story that otherwise would be left out. Overall it’s a great way to build on some of the lesser seen characters and show their importance to the universe as a whole. 

Next up we have Ultimate Spider-man #200. The Ultimate universe was created back when the first Sam Raimi Spiderman movie came out to help build a new fanbase.

Over the years this universe has gotten as convoluted as Universe Prime has and therefore a reboot of sorts needed to take place. So with the hero purge we’ve seen over the last few months we’re left with a streamlined hero community. It’s a great way to pick up new or old readers and get some buzz. I’ve been here since the beginning and even at it’s worst it was still a fun book.

Overall it was another big week where I bought 10 books spending to much money. Money that I should be saving for Wondercon in 2 weeks.

This weeks the folks that bring us Wondercon put out the schedule and overall it’s not to bad. Sunday is a bit weak and Saturday is overly packed. I’d love to see something a little more evenly distributed but what can you do.
