Did Marvel Fire Edgar Wright From Ant-Man? It Looks Like That Might Be The Case!

Ant-Man… I have to tell you, I was pretty excited to check this out. First off, it was going to be directed by one of my favorites, Edgar Wright. For those of you uninitiated, Edgar is the man behind Sean of the Dean, Hot Fuzz, The World’s End, etc…

Now, Ant-Man was a real passion project for him, in fact he’s been working on it in some way for about oh… eight years or so… Eight frakkin years!

That’s a long time to work on any project, for especially for film.

In fact, Edgar screened footage for Ant-Man at SDCC 2012 that he shot and fans loved it. Which is when, after the footage went viral, Marvel hired him. Now, after all that, Edgar Wright is leaving Ant-Man “due to differences in their vision of the film.”

Ummmm Riiiiiiiiight…. I was literally shocked when I heard the news, and I have to tell you, I’m way less enthusiastic about the project now. Edgar would have brought a unique and interesting vision to the Marvel universe… I’m bummed.

According to several sources such as Hypable, the pressure of a big budget movie like this was getting to Edgar Wright but even so, the man was going to make it right. It was his passion you know.

And now, he’s leaving due to differences in their vision of the film? I just don’t think that rings true you know?

Sigh…
