With Nine Lives about to be be released, I thought… It’s time for a Throwback Thurs with one of my favorites! Alias star Jennifer Garner!
This was a really fun day and one of the rare premiere successes!
Check it out below!
I admit it, I’m a huge fan of Jennifer Garner. Love her. Alias is one of my top favorite shows ever and 13 Going on 30 is my go to I-Need-To-Feel-Good movie. It’s awesome. So when I saw Jennifer’s new movie Draft Day would be premiering in los Angeles I knew I had to be there.
Kevin Costner, who I also really enjoy is going to be here as well as (rumored) Tom Welling from Smallville. I’ve heard such mixed reports about Tom Welling but for fans, I’ve heard he was cool.
The Other Mike got here to save some spots and I took over second shift. Suddenly Susan soon joined, as she is a huge tom Welling fan.
Can I tell you, it’s hot, it’s damn hot, it’s nice when you’re with a lady, but it’s way too damn hot. Sorry, makeshift Good Morning Vietnam quote.
So much happens when your just sitting in the sun. Susan and I got icees, I bought a Coke Zero, we made fun of men holding purses, yeah, it was action… and when I say action, I mean we were in the middle of a Steven Segal film. Don’t tell Ace, cause he’ll start whipping out an 8×12 photo for him. “Steven Segal? Where? Where?”
After making up a long convoluted story about manatees, Crocodile Dundee, and Android phones, Scotty arrived. He has some laserdiscs, of course. LOL..
I have a ton of stuff, I can’t even list it all. Let’s just say I have original mini posters, mobiles and DVD box sets. Yep, I’m crazy.
DVD Dave just arrived and is thumbing through his case of DVD sleeves.
Later Chris, Ace and Alex all arrived, yep it was a party.
After the hours and hours in the hot sun the first arrival Kevin Dunn. Scotty when crazy because he needs Kevin on a one sheet. And Of Course Scotty had to start a Draft Day mini poster. Color him happy!
Then director Ivan Reitman came over as well. He was really cool as well.
Wallace Langham came over to sign Scotty’s mini poster.
Terry Crews is so cool and came right on over.
Then Rosanna Arquette arrived and came on over. She was so sweet. She signed a lithograph I had from a photo book. I love this photo.
Then Ellen Burstyn showed up and looked like she was scared anyone knew her name. She looked over and half waved before trying to dunk onto the carpet. That’s a bummer, I would have loved her on my Big Love and Exorcist mini posters.
42 star Chadwick Boseman came over and was really cool signing up and down the line. He was great and signed up a storm!
Now, Susan really wants Tom Welling and that’s the reason she’s here. I’m here for Jennifer Garner, so we were both going to help each other. Well… Who would have known, that BOTH Tom Welling and Jennifer Garner would come over at the SAME TIME! Doh!
Both were super awesome. Jennifer Garner started at the end and then Tom Welling came right over to us. Susan was so excited and Tom was so cool. Like really cool. It was so fast, he signed my Smallville mini poster from SDCC and then went down the line.
Jennifer Garner is now close to us, and is literally signing everything in front of her.
She signed my Alias mini poster, a W Magazine, Susan got a W Magazine signed and Alex helped me with a GQ Magazine as well.
I then got my Alias box set signed and I was like, “Jen, it’s the box set cover.” Jennifer said, “I know what this is!” I felt like a moron but it was really cool.
Then Tom Welling comes back and starts to sign my Alias poster and stops saying, “Wait, that’s not for me!” Doh… It’s not bad… but… Poo. LOL…
He was so nice about it though, even apologizing. Then Tom Welling signs my Rolling Stone magazine from back in the day. A really nice guy, seriously.
So different from the star of Draft Day, Mr. Kevin Costner. I don’t think I have ever been turned off by someone after meeting them, it was almost Bruce Willis caliber. He stopped and stared at everyone, sauntered over. Signed one, skipped five people, signed another skipped people, I had an original Robin Hood mobile from the theater, he wouldn’t even touch it. It was this aura of, “I’m a really big deal” the same kind of attitude that Bruce Willis has when he stands in front of people for them to look at him, like he did at Red 2. It was the same thing (except Costner did pick up the pen for 31 seconds). But I’ll be honest, Kevin Costner really was a douche. Especially compared to the awesomeness of Tom Welling and Jennifer Garner.
It’s too bad and I don’t know what it is with stars who were huge in the 1990s and now aren’t that big, but (a lot, not all) have a real attitude. It was so disappointing as I grew up on so many of Kevin Costner’s films, and man… He’s a tool.
I still had a great time, thanks to Jennifer Garner and Tom Welling. So nice to everyone waiting. Props in my book, I’ll tell you! I think Kevin Costner should take a page out of their books.
Until next time kids…
