Welcome back to Billy Beer’s Bar Stool. Today we are off again to see the band Rebel and a Basketcase featuring Evan Rachel Wood and Zach Villa. A few months back I got to see them live at The Satellite in LA. I went to see Evan, but got hooked on the music really quick. It’s a fun 80’s electric style music that I grew up listening to. It wasn’t hard to get hooked. At that event she was super nice and signed a number of things for me. So when I heard they were going to be playing a show in San Diego (much closer to where I live), I was all over it.
I drove down to SD as soon as I got out of work. Got to drive past where I’ll be sleeping for 3 days during Comic Con. I went down there with a work buddy. When we got there, we could see the band going through sound check. Everyone was there except Evan. We waited a while, and after moving around we finally see Zach getting ready to run up to his room and eat some food. He stops and signs my band picture that already had Evan on it. He was super chill and told us they’d be down in a bit.
When they finally came back down, they ran right past us cause they had to do press. After standing by the VIP and press area for a bit, someone finally comes up to us and tells us she’ll sign everything after the show. That works for me, time to go in and get a drink!
When we get our drinks, we ask for the tab. The bartender tells us the drinks are free till more people show up! WHAT!!! FREE BEER FOR BILLY BEER!!! YES!!!!
After they had free DJ lessons, the band finally comes out to play. It was a good time. They played all their songs, I drank, I sang, I danced. Evan did her first stage dive and I was there to help catch. Again, there music is just fun.
When the show finished, we waited next to the roped off area with our pictures. After a few minutes, she came over and talked to us for a bit. She remembered me from the last show and Paley.
I told her I loved the Elle shoot she did and then she signed a few things for me. She finished my Westworld combo and signed a couple more things. We even got our lanyards signed that they gave out.
After the autographs, they took pictures.
All in all, a great night. Hope people get a chance to see them live for themselves. Eventually we did have to pay for our beers, but he 2 free ones tasted great! Till next time!
