Extra Host Maria Menounos Makes Dallas A Fan For Life At Her Book Signing For Every Girl’s Guide To Life!

Hey everyone! We have a special treat for you today! We have another new contributor! Please say hello to Dallas! An no he’s not FROM Dallas, actually he’s from South Carolina! Although the whole time I read his article I kept singing in my head, “Have you ever seen Dallas from a DC-9 at night…” Yeah, yeah, you all know I’m random, lol. That was from a 10,000 Maniacs cover.

Dallas is a collector of autographs, collecting through the mail, and in person as well. Today, he’s writing in about his experience with Extra Co-host Ms Maria Menounos! Maria had a book signing for her tome , “The Every girl’s Guide to Life” and Dallas headed out to try and meet her!

Hey everyone! My name is Dallas and I am an autograph collector in South Carolina. I may not be out in California like most of the Fanboy Family but I have met quite a few celebrities and I figured it was time I share some of my encounters with you. I’m mostly a through the mail collector, I like to write to celebrities and send photos to be signed whether it be to an agency or via venue. I have quite a large collection.

This first article that I’m submitting is an encounter with EXTRA TV Host, Maria Menounos. She is the author of The Every girl’s Guide to Life, she has hosted Access Hollywood and The Today Show and is currently the co-host of Extra with Mario Lopez.

It was June 5th, summer was beginning and I found out that the next week, Maria would be in Florence, SC having a book signing for her new book. It’s about an hour and a half drive so I talked my friend Presley in to going with me and we ordered copies of the book online and had them shipped to us just in time. On June 13th, we headed down to the store and printed headshots of Maria in hopes that she would sign them for us and brought our books with us and got on the road. I had tweeted Maria the night before to ask if there were any guidelines for the signing, that we were driving out and might not make it on time, I was expecting a crowd- She DM’d me and said that I would get in no problem. I was so happy. Once we got on the road, I sent out a tweet that we were just getting started headed to @MariaMenounos ‘s book signing, not expecting a reply- and all of a sudden a few minutes later both our phones buzz because she tweeted us back saying to drive safe and she’d see us soon!

4:30- On the road, ready for a 6pm signing.

5:45- We pull in to the Florence mall, I’ve never been to the area and we have to ask for directions as to where the Books-A-Million is, we get quite lost as it was just tucked in a corner.

5:52- We walk into the bookstore, a lady asks us if we are here for the book signing, we show her our books and say yes so she gives us a number and writes our name on a sticky note because Maria likes to keep them apparently!

5:55- We’re in a row, not even a line, very shocked when we look down and see that our numbers are 11 and 12!! There’s stacks of the book all over the store and only 12 people so far.

6:02- Maria pulls in to the parking lot and comes in with her boyfriend, she says thank you to everyone for coming and sits down to start signing right away. About 16 or 17 people have formed by now and that’s it.

6:21- It is so nice, Maria is spending her time with each and everyone of the people in the crowd and having a conversation. Only 1 more person till us!

6:27- We approach Maria and hand her our books once she looks down at the sticky notes and see our names she looks up and says, loudly LOL, “MY TWEETERS!!” 🙂 We loved it, we knew just how kind she was once she recognized us.

She couldn’t’ve been any sweeter to us. We chatted about why she came to Florence, and it was booked through Access Hollywood- she was still the host back in June, she was actually supposed to be in my city but it was a mistake- I was quite curious, because Florence is not the biggest city in SC, Myrtle Beach is much more popular. She was in the area already because she was going to Georgia the next day to interview the cast on set of “American Reunion”, the new American Pie film.

6:36- We’re still talking with Maria she mentions how her and her boyfriend have been sightseeing in town that day and she found a really good ice cream place, suggesting we go try it out once we leave. She signed our books, thrilled that we had brought photos of her and so very happy to sign them for us! I think she may very well have been the nicest celebrity I’ve come in contact with.

6:42- After we took photos with her and said goodbye, we got on the road and headed home. We weren’t even in there 45 minutes, it was so nice and a very great environment! If I ever get to Los Angeles, I would love to meet her again!
