Former Florida coach Steve Spurrier was once asked to sign a pacemaker.(Don’t worry, it had already been removed.)Ohio State coach Urban Meyer was asked to sign a snow plow. (He declined).Coaches from coast to coast can attest that when it comes to signing autographs, the bizarre is the norm. Many fans are caught fumbling for a Sharpie or a pen when they see their favorite coach, and then hand over the only things they have on them.
Autographs are rarely one-sided affairs
Saturday was Media Day at the University of Oklahoma. Lincoln Riley took to the podium to hold his first press conference of the fall. He was followed shortly by Mike Stoops and Baker Mayfield.But earlier in the day, players and coaches took part in Fan Appreciation Day. This is a day for kids to come and get autographs from players they see on TV every week during the football season.

Lord of the Rings first edition books and valuable stamps auctioned off
Stamp and book collectors were out in force for Cuttlestones’ specialist collector sale to take advantage of some particularly strong lots.In the books section, it was a first edition set of Tolkien’s enduring Lord of the Rings trilogy that proved the star of the show. In their original dust jackets and published by George Allen and Unwin Ltd, with volumes ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’ (Second Impression, December 1954), ‘The Two Towers’ (1954) and ‘The Return of the King’ (1955), this rare set saw the hammer fall at £2,100 against an estimate of £500 to £800. The books sold to an internet bidder.

Everyone’s favorite One Tree Hill brothers are reuniting!
Chad Michael Murray and James Lafferty, who played Lucas and Nathan Scott, respectively, on One Tree Hill, are headed back to Wilmington, North Carolina this October for EyeCon’s annual event for the CW series.
Murray confirmed his return to EyeCon in an Instagram post last week.
Just like the return of your favorite superhero franchise, Boston Comic Con is back again, promising a weekend of fun for fans of all ages. The three-day convention, at the Seaport World Trade Center, starts today, with a stellar lineup of attractions, chief among them a chance to meet former Doctor Who stars Matt Smith and Karen Gillian. Fans can collect celebrity autograph signings, listen in on Q&A panels, and shop for merchandise among the more than 500 vendors on hand.
