Harrison Ford is a living legend. I mean the man is Han Solo and Indiana Jones for God sakes, not to mention The Fugitive, Air Force One, etc…
So, when I get a tip that the man himself is out and about… Well… Even though it might not be the most optimistic of venues, one has to try.
Scotty was already on the scene and I got there with the other 30 people or so.
It was hot, it was cold, there was Katy Perry song lyrics being quoted. It was a crazy crazy day in Santa Monica.
When Harrison Ford arrived we all lined up, apparently he was running late but when someone asked if he would do it on the way out he said, “We’ll see.” or something to that effect.
Alas, it wasn’t looking good.
We all waited, and waited and waited. It felt like midnight as the darkness descended. It was actually only 30 minutes but it felt like midnight and that’s pretty common when you’re waiting on the cold Santa Monica streets for Harrison Ford.
His car pulled to the front and we were sort of feeling like we had a shot. Then… the car pulled up to the far door and it really didn’t look good.
THEN the dude in charge of the venue said that Harrison Ford told them he was not going to sign.
Sigh… And still we waited.
Then Harrison Ford was leaving, we yelled and he was getting in the car, and then walked around the car and then… Glory be, he walked on over.
It was crazy.
And here was the craziest part… People behaved themselves! I KNOW! It was orderly. Harrison Ford said, “One each!”
And he went down the line for the most part and was very nice. Over in an instant but still… I mean.. It’s fucking Harrison Ford!
He signed my Star Wars poster which was awesome. I was very happy. Not the most perfect Harrison Ford’s out there, but I’ll take it for sure!
A great way to start the week!
Until next time kids…
