It’s Throwback Thurs!
I was just looking at this counter standee today and thought to myself. OMG! Perfect for Throwback Thurs!
This was a wild day and one I never thought would happen. You just never know right? You always have to try. I mean Harrison Ford is an icon!
Check out the Flashback below!
There’s one person that almost every Fanboy loves and who is super hard to meet.. I could only be talking about Harrison Ford. He has played numerous roles throughout his career but two icon roles… Indiana Jones and Han Solo.
It’s no secret that Harrison Ford isn’t that fan friendly. There are several Fanboy Fails right here on this site. But, it’s almost as if you can’t expect to get Harrison Ford but you still have to go out regardless.
Suddenly Susan has been talking about heading out for Harrison Ford while he filmed a talk show to promote Ender’s Game his new movie. Suddenly Susan and I headed over and took stock of the scene. We were hoping to get Harrison Ford on the way into the talk show.
Suddenly Susan and I saw the car and held up our stuff. We were the only two there! What luck we thought…. The car came closer and then… It drove right on by. Doh!
There goes that.
And there goes Harrison Ford into the studio.
Suddenly Susan was a sad little toaster.
It would take a perfect storm to get this to work out.
We had some time to kill, so Suddenly Susan and I caught up, talked about life, liberty, the pursuit of all things Fanboy and The Frenchman. You know, the normal stuff.
When time got closer we headed back and were joined by Billy Beer. It was a day to ponder and Billy Beer was doing just that while playing Kandy Krush.
There is a nasty gross spider that is fuzzy and orange and Suddenly Susan refuses to let me “take the bugger out.” Doh…
There are about 12 people here now… I’m not holding out much hope to be honest. I’m just hoping he leaves before the audience does so it’s not total chaos.
Then, as time was ticking by we saw Harrison Ford get into his car. We all tried to get into a line. One dealer clearly didn’t want to work with everyone, but here’s the thing… It’s Harrison Ford. This is what he does. If you’re calm, line up and don’t crowd him, you have a better chance.
Suddenly, Harrison Ford’s car stops inside the gate. He gets out of the car to look at a classic car parked inside the lot and Suddenly Susan pointed out that it was him. We called out and Harrison Ford turned and waved.
That’s a good sign.. Right? (Mike says grasping at straws)
He got back in the car and it slowly creeped towards us. It looked like he was going to stop. And then it swerved to the right and it looked bleak.
Finally, the car stopped and we creeped up and the door opened. Harrison Ford got out and said, “Stop!”
He started his lecture, “No one move, I’m not doing photos, and one each. Don’t try and jump in at the end and get more.”
True to his word, Harrison Ford Signed one each.
Susan had him sign a really cool Star Wars print, Billy Beer had a small 8×10 photo and me… I had a foil embossed counter standee for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
It looks pretty damn epic and and I have to tell you. And with that Indiana Jones ducked into his car and left!
I’m overjoyed that this worked out. Harrison Ford is a tough one to get, and let alone have a good encounter with. This was super nice and I’m sure it won’t be happening again anytime soon.
Until next time kids…
