Fanboy Fail Fridays! It’s A Bird! It’s A Plane! It’s Henry Cavill Driving Off Leaving A 100 Fans In The Dust! Doh! Man Of Steel Madness!
You know… There are events where you just look at it and say.. Nope. It’s too crazy. It’s not going to happen, or do I want to deal with it all? That was the way I felt when the new Superman Henry Cavill flew into Los Angeles for a talk show appearance.
Suddenly Susan however lept a tall building and made her way over. But…
Since it’s Fanboy Fail friday. You can kind of figure out how it all went down.

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a Super Cluster!
Superman is my favorite comic book hero of all time. I love the original movies without Christopher Reeve and I even enjoyed most of Superman Returns (just let this one go Mike).
(Editor’s Note: Actually, I’m one of the few who didn’t mind Superman Returns. It helps that I have a cast signed one sheet so that always makes a movie better. lol… M-)
I am getting more and more excited for Man of Steel with each new trailer and TV spot. So, when Henry Cavill, the newest Superman, was doing a recent talk show appearance and I just had to give it a try.
I expected an average amount of mayhem, but was not prepared for the absolute chaos. Security would not allow anyone to stand on the property, so a “line” of 30 – 40 people spilled onto the sidewalk.
Then, as the audience let out, the somewhat organized line turned into a crowd, a huddle, a herd of 100+ people!
Twenty or so people lined up ACROSS the street
as well as another 20 or so who stood on the opposite corner. From what I’ve seen/heard about Henry in the past, he seems super (forgive the pun) fan friendly,
(Editor’s Note: I can’t forgive that pun… Sorry… I still love you though! M-)
but this was more than any celebrity could or should be asked to handle. If I were him, I would have bolted out the side entry, which is exactly what he did.
A few ‘smart’ autograph dealers stood at the side exit and 6 or 7 got his autograph. Another group of dealers raced to the car and shoved what they had in Henry’s face, and that’s when he left. 100 plus fans and 6 or 7 dealers get a signature; yup, that sounds about right.
I was lucky enough to get an autographed Man of Steel mini poster and last year’s Comic Con where I also met Henry, so I wasn’t too disappointed. This gorgeous Details magazine shall remain unsigned, at least for a while.

This was a recurring theme for Mr. Cavill in NYC too. I’ll try to write something up about it.
Poor dude. Even the NICEST celebrity in the world wouldn’t have stopped. Perhaps if it was a little organized, behind a rope or something. It would have been absolute chaos if he had stopped and people would have been injured for sure.
wearing my Man of Steel shirt in honor of showings today (despite bad reviews by people and my friends). I think he is a class act all the way and although I have had only 3 encounters and 2 were supervised via Comicon events for Immortals and Man of Steel he is very engaging. Even at Immortals premiere he personalized everything I remember and took photos with anyone that asked.
My son said last week too when he worked the pre screening for the military he took pictures and signed autographs for anyone that asked (yes, I know military). Probably been stretched too thin this week and figures most have his autograph that were there anyway.
You always have such a great attitude Susan and take things in stride.
Oh Susan, my heart was ripped to desperate tears when I saw that the Man Of Steel was a bohunkian disappointment. As the positivity of the ages, you have channeled our primal desires and alas were crushed into a pulp of sadness. If I could mend your bleeding heart I would.
But we know our Susan, carved in marble and positive to a fault. The heart beaming like a ray of hope in a dismal decaying land. Oh Susan, rise above the madness the chaos and the whores showing off their wares. Rise above. Use the positive energy in your nature to say to the world, no world we will not be pushed down. We will rise!
And for you have met the man of steel and allowed him to permeate your soul and being. There needs to be a novel about the life of Suddenly Susan the huntress. chopping down the enemy and vanquishing her foes.
Henry has lovely muscles. Susan did you notice?
I say, you will meet your love one day Susan and you will brim with even more amazement. I need more Suddenly Susan and so does the world! It would be the best thing in the world if I could read more from Suddenly Susan every week or every day! Sitting alone in this housebound soulless land gives me much reprieve to gasp upon the amazement of Suddenly Susan. Strike up! Strike up the band! Strike up the army! Strike up the chorus of revelers for Suddenly Susan!

I have a correction to make – Henry signed for 8 people and two of them were actual fans. Hope that heals any hurt feelings.
