Oh Ace! Getting rejected by The Fonz himself Henry Winkler. Sorry brother! You know… It’s rough out there for a pimp!

No Intro from me… This is my first fanboy fail article, and I never believed it would be about this man… He is considered one of the nicest men in Hollywood… And I failed at him…
You will all laugh because, I am sure everyone and their mother has his autograph…
I failed at getting Henry “The Fonz” Winkler… No photos could perfectly capture the moment…. It was maybe a brief two minutes.
Winkler was doing a television appearance promoting the same book for the last two years. (Not to mention I have bought these in the past) I got there around 20 minutes before the interview was supposed to take place…
As the interview approaches, Winkler walks down the courtyard with his book in hand…
He enters the gates, and is greeting Mario Lopez at a small distance away from us… The interview takes approximately 5 minutes, and then Winkler scribbles his name on a few pieces of paper in the distance. He gets off stage and moves to the right. We carefully approach the departing pathway…
He is three feet away from us… The crowd of five people asks him to sign a few autographs… He says, “If I do one, I have to do them all.” We look at each other and say, there are only five people… and he does it despite probably not wanting to…
Well… from there… he signs for the first person…
Sees this photo below…
And Skips me…
I was like surely he must have made a mistake… I try again… Wouldn’t sign it…
Tried again… Wouldn’t sign it… He wants to hand the pen back after signing 4 graphs and proceeds to place the pen on my NON-Signed photo…
All five of us are pointing at my photo, and he takes the pen and places it on the fence…and walks away…
Of course, I was mad… Of course, I was pissed… I was just flipped off by the nicest man in Hollywood because he did not want to sign a photo in fear of people making money off “The Fonz” other than himself.
He charges 20-30 bucks at conventions to sign any “Fonz” related items… So, of course, since, he doesn’t know if I am a fan or not, god forbid sign a “Fonz” photo…
Now, you might say, Bullshit… Henry Winkler would not do this… Well… I am pretty sure if I put that photo in his face any closer, it would have touched the hairs on his chin…
Meeting this legend was extremely disappointing…
I felt like this after meeting Henry Winkler
Now, remember, there is always a graphing opportunity out there… You just have to find it. Unless, it’s Henry Winkler and a Fonz photo…
Until Next time,
The fan who did not get Henry Winkler…
P.S. I am sure we will have someone post a article all about signing a Fonz photo… If so, in the words of the Fonz, “Ehhh!!!” “Sit on it.”
So, on this day, much to my dismay Henry Winkler is definitely Dr. Jekyll!
For rejecting our Ace Henry Winkler is given the Happy… I mean Angry Theo Award!

Wow, that is a painful one. Sorry Ace!! If it makes you feel better, I don’t have his autograph… but then again, I’ve never tried for him.
I had a similar experience with him not wanting to sign for me as well. He was promoting his book at a fishing supply store in Van Nuys in 2011. I bought a book and he signed and took a pic with me. I tried for another item and he said he didn’t have the correct pen to sign my vintage metal Happy Days lunch box. So I went to my truck and brought him the correct pen & he signed it, but wasn’t happy. Asked for another item to be signed outside when he was leaving & he said “look I’ve signed enough stuff for you guys” and walked away. I followed him to his car & he said something about selling the autographed photo. So I said “no it’s for me and I’d love it if you could personalize it to me”. He then reached out the window of his car & signed & personalized it to me. So I did end up with a few autos & photo op, but he was not the nicest guy in Hollywood that day. Hopefully you’ll get him next time.
Ace, you’re not alone. He had an attitude when I met him at the Hollywood Show. He refused to discuss $$$, but enthusiastically greeted all the fans waiting in line taking his time with everyone. When my time came up I was the only one in line and had him sign an Arrested Development DVD. We talked about Arrested Development, but he seems freaked out we didn’t discuss happy Days. He was weird and even though no one was waiting for him behind me, he abruptly ended our conversation simply b/c I didn’t at least mention the Fonz. Henry Winkler is an everyday Jekyll and Hyde so I’m sorry he acted so weird.
I had the same Jeckyl experience, Ace. Met him at Adam Sandler’s star ceremony a few years back and Henry arrived pretty early. It was a weird set-up and only this one other guy and I were standing where he walked in. The guy asked him for autograph and he begrudgingly signed. Then I asked for a picture, he said “Nope!” and turned around and walked away. :(. Not nice at all.
