Throwback Thurs! Meeting The Ref Star Kevin Spacey! Miranda Richardson! Barry Pepper! And More!!

So, as I trudge through my post Comic Con sickness, I was thinking… of a lot things, mainly how much I missed Theo, but also of a little movie called The Ref. Dennis Leary was at SDCC and was super cool. I’ll have a recap of that soon, but for today’s Throwback Thursday, I thought I would look back at meeting Kevin Spacey, it was a great night. I also met Miranda Richardson, and Green Mile star Barry Pepper!

Tonight is the premiere of Casino Jack the new Kevin Spacey film also starring Barry Pepper, Jon Lovitz, Kelley Preston and more… Also premiering tonight at the same venue is the new Miranda Richardson film Made in Dagenham… And again, it’s an AFI event… sigh… Well, I’m hedging bets on nothing happening, but why not try it anyway. I really have wanted Miranda Richardson on my Sleepy Hollow poster for a long long time and since she’s not in the United States a lot… you have to take your chances when they come right? Sigh…

4:45 p.m. – I just arrived and Erica is on her way. I figured I’m not going to show up early because last time was a debacle… There’s only like 5 people here so I think everyone is feeling the same way.

4:56 p.m. – It’s like a wind tunnel here.. ugh… I mean literally the wind is ripping through my skin like a knife.

5:04 p.m. – Erica just arrived… Celebrity arrivals are at 6:30 I think…

5:14 p.m. – I was told the ripping wind took down the monolith from 2010 that AFI put up on the Blvd. I was told that it almost crushed someone. LOL… Yeah, great idea that monolith…

5:17 p.m. – I’m trying not to be bitter about losing Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway the other day… at the Love and Other Drugs premiere… sigh…

5:22 p.m. – Damn cold… I mean it… damn cold.

5:31 p.m. – Okay, now we were just told that they are pushing the barricade back… wonderful… Oh, and to make matters worse we can’t stand here because of fire hazards… It’s 30 degrees outside and arctic tundra… a fire would be welcome!

5:41 p.m. – So, all six of us are hovering around the barricade… not next to it, just hovering… god this is random…

6:02 p.m. – We are so far back now, I doubt anyone will ever come over this way. Sigh… Still we are here so we have to try…

6:11 p.m. – An old lady is stripping her clothes off on Hollywood Blvd. I’m not going to photograph it this time. I just can’t it’s too tragic! You have no idea!

6:21 p.m. – Erica really wants to get her Harry Potter Diary signed and didn’t even bring anything else… so she’s getting my Ref DVD insert signed for me… lol… that is if Kevin Spacey comes over… lol..

6:26 p.m. – My friend Frank just got here… He just wants a photo so he asked me if I wanted him to get something signed for me. I was like… yeah! Lol….

6:35 p.m. – I brought my Green Mile UK Quad mini poster for Barry Pepper… He is probably familiar to a lot of you guys, but you don’t know his name. He’s probably most famous for Saving Private Ryan, which of course was amazing!

6:41 p.m. – There is a wall of publicists and we are so far back everyone has to walk like a block to get to us. Sigh…

6:43 p.m. – So, we are creeping back to the barricade… So far we haven’t gotten kicked out yet… lol…

6:47 p.m. – Here’s a car, it looks like everyone is getting dropped in the small AFI cars again… In case anyone is wondering AFI stands for American Film Institute…

6:49 p.m. – Oh, Barry Pepper just arrived… Everyone is yelling out for him and wow… he’s coming right over!

6:51 p.m. – Barry Pepper is signing for everyone and doing pictures. I have my Green Mile poster out and he makes his way over to our end.

6:54 p.m. – Barry Pepper says, “I’m going to sign it right in the middle where Tom Hanks would probably want to do it.” And laughs… such a nice guy! He goes up and down the barricade and gets everyone probably twice!

6:59 p.m. – Well, at least we know people will do it! Let’s see if Kevin Spacey or Miranda Richardson will do it?

7:03 p.m. – Another car… its Jon Lovitz. I have my DVD for My Stepmother is an Alien… I know I know but it’s one of those 1980’s movies I love… lol… It’s so good it’s bad! Lol…

7:09 p.m. – Jon Lovitz comes right on over.. and signs. Jon Lovitz’s publicist keeps pointing to my DVD but Jon Lovitz gets pushed to the carpet before he can sign for me… grumble.

7:11 p.m. – Jon Lovitz’s publicist apologized to me for not getting it signed. That was so nice! Lol…

7:16 p.m. – So so so so so cold… I have to pee so bad.. lol… This carpet ends at 7:30 p.m. and then the next film starts, so hopefully, Kevin Spacey will show up soon.

7:18 p.m. – Speak of the Devil! Kevin Spacey just arrived… Everyone is yelling for him. He gives someone a hug…

7:19 p.m. – Oh My God… He’s coming right on over… I have to get my posters out… I gave Frank my Men Who Stare at Goats mini poster and Erica my Ref DVD insert I already have Dennis Leary on… and I have my American Beauty Mini UK Quad poster that I already have Annette Benning on… I can’t believe he’s coming over…

7:22 p.m. – Kevin is signing one each, and is posing for a few photos but not many… He told someone.. No, I got you already when they tried for a second… He sees my American Beauty poster and comes right over to sign.

7:23 p.m. – I thank him, and he says, you are very welcome as he signs the Ref DVD insert..

7:24 p.m. – Then he heads over to Frank and Signs the Men Who Stare At Goats poster and Frank even got a photo with him.

7:26 p.m. – Wow, that was actually really cool! Plus we got really nice signatures! Very impressed!

7:34 p.m. – I still can’t believe that Kevin Spacey came over… Wow, this is turning out to be a pretty cool night. Now, I just hope Miranda Richardson comes over…

7:35 p.m. – The security is bringing over more barricades now… Okay…

7:37 p.m. – Okay, now the security is making a makeshift interior barricade, I think it’s to funnel out the people who will be leaving the theatre but who knows…

7:41 p.m. – Oh a car is pulling up… It’s Miranda Richardson! Everyone yells, but she heads right over to the carpet… Crap! That’s it… Sigh…

7:46 p.m. – So, since Miranda Richardson’s movie is upstairs, so I think we’re going to head up there…

7:54 p.m. – Okay, Miranda’s movie starts at 8:00 p.m. and she will introduce the film with the cast so there is a chance we can get her going in.

8:05 p.m. – We were in the front but apparently Miranda came in and a couple collectors were in the lobby and asked Miranda Richardson to sign and she just said, “No.” Damn…

8:11 p.m. – Erica and I are waiting outside near the exit. It’s well lit and there’s not one else here, so hopefully if we are polite she’ll stop.

8:22 p.m. – I look up and see the cast leaving the theatre… Erica pulls her Harry Potter diary out and I have my Sleepy Hollow poster out. I let Erica approach since she’s les intimidating than a six foot three dude. Lol…

8:24 p.m. – Erica asks very politely, and Miranda is about to say no.. but then says, “Okay.” I then start gushing about how Sleepy Hollow is one of my favorite films, and we watch it every year. And then Miranda is so nice a friendly. She’s chatty and very nice.

8:26 p.m. – Wow, a very successful night! Whoo hoo! I’m so happy to get Miranda Richardson I love her and like I said earlier it’s tough to get some of the Brits! Lol… Now, we’re getting some soup! Mmmmm soup… We need to warm up!
