The Facts of Life is one of the best shows to come out of the 1980’s of all time. It’s been one of the few series in my life that lasts to this very day. I’m so happy that all the episodes are finally out now on DVD!
Pinky is also a huge fan of the series and was able to meet the last cast member from The Facts of Life, Kim Fields. We were able to meet everyone else at the Paley Center reunion last year so this was a big thrill for her!
Check out her recap below!
Hello, my lovelies. Pinky Lovejoy-Coogan here still walking on air after meeting one of my favorites from The Facts of Life, Kim Fields (aka “Tootie”). Ever since I can remember, I’ve loved this show.
It was a huge part of my childhood and I still enjoy watching the episodes today. As such, it was a thrill to be able to meet the cast over the years, especially since I never dreamed I’d be able to meet them all.
A few years ago there was a reunion at the Paley Center and we had a blast! (to read more about that reunion, check out this link!) The only problem? No Kim Fields.
As she lives in Atlanta, I feared I may never see her….that is, until it was announced that she’d be competing on this season’s celebrity cast of Dancing with the Stars. I’m pretty sure I screamed when I found out she’d be on the show because that meant she’d be in town! As someone who has watched almost everything she’s ever done (I LOVED Living Single!), I couldn’t wait to meet her, especially since I’ve got this great lunchbox that needed her signature. After trying several times to see her at rehearsal, I finally lucked out this weekend and was able to meet her, get a picture, and have her sign my lunchbox. Wahoo! That. Was. Huge. I mean, hello, it’s Tootie!
When she saw my lunchbox, she told me she didn’t even realize they had a lunchbox. Too funny! I’m so happy to have had the chance to meet her, as well as the other main members of the cast. It’s impossible to express how much the pictures with them mean to me. The few seconds it took for each of them to pose with me means more than they’ll ever know – especially considering how many hours I spent watching their escapades onscreen. I loved their characters, their adventures, their antics, and their comradery. Seeing them grow up onscreen before our eyes especially endeared them to me because we were all growing up together. Kim, as the final cast member from this beloved show, was the last piece of the puzzle and I’m so happy to have been able to meet her. I wish her all the best on the show and will be rooting for her!
