Kylie Minogue Aphrodite Tour Concert Review Los Angeles Hollywood Bowl 5-20-11!
by mike on May 21, 2011 • 7:17 pm 3 CommentsAhhhhh…. What a magical night for the world to end! Last night, I was fortunate enough to spend a night under the stars with Ms. Kylie Minogue. Now, most of you know how much I love her so, I won’t have to get into the majesty that is her Kylie-ness, but suffice it to say, there was no better way to spend rapture-eve.

The show started out with massive Greek columns in the background with large projected screens. Clearly we were in for a night themed after Kylie Minogue’s amazing new album Aphrodite.
If you have not bought your copy yet… Stop right now, get in the car and go to the store… There… Now that’s done… Whew…

Kylie arrived onstage in a large golden shell and started out the night with the title track off the album, which I thought was a perfect choice. She looked stunning and adorable at the same time with her Grecian headdress and toga.
Clearly we would be in for an amazing night…
By the third song Kylie threw in one of my favorite tracks, “Wow” from X and incorporated it into the show as if she was watching gladiators duel.
Kind of like Lucy Lawless watching Andy Whitfield in Spartacus: Blood and Sand… But gayer. LOL…
Speaking of that, I do have to mention, with the scantily clad male dancers, and the scantily clad male patrons… I have never seen the Hollywood Bowl look gayer! It really was West Hollywood come to life!
Lol… There were even guys dressed in drag as different versions of Aphrodite… It was like a gay San Diego comic con! LOL… And everyone was having a blast! I mean I don’t think anyone sat down the entire night!

By the time Kylie got to “I Believe in You” I was totally enthralled in subtle Kylie Minogue worship. Ah… Good times… Plus her voice… In TOP form!
I love hearing cover songs performed in concert, I really do, but it’s hard to cover something like “There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart)” Annie Lennox has such a distinct voice and it’s super powerful.
So, when I heard the familiar cords, I was like… Oh Lord… But Damn if Kylie didn’t sound AMAZING! I mean she rocked that song.

Last time when Kylie first toured the United States the energy of the crowd was electric because it was the first time ever she did a “full scale” tour in the states. So, I wondered how this show would compare…
let me tell you, I don’t know if it matched the first time I saw here, I mean really how can you compare something that pop’s your Kylie Minogue live in concert cherry, but it certainly came damn close.

If you have a chance I wholeheartedly suggest you check out the tour. It’s awesome!
