Happy LV-426! Celebrating With The Alien Cast! Sigourney Weaver! Michael Biehn! John Hurt! Veronica Cartwright! Tons More!
Happy LV-426 day!
Who doesn’t love Alien and Aliens? Two of my favorite films of all time. Amazeballs!
To celebrate, I thought I would take a look back at meeting the cast of both shows over the years
First here’s a recap from the Aliens reunion from a month or so ago.
I think there’s Aliens fever happening in Los Angeles.
This past weekend there was an Aliens reunion at the Los Angeles Sci-Fi convention and of course I had to go.
Appearing at the con was Ricco Ross (Frost), Michael Biehn (Hicks), Carrie Henn (Newt), Lance Henriksen (Bishop), and Mark Rolston (Drake). Sadly, Jenette Goldstein was going to be here as well, but she had to cancel. Doh.
Chris AKA The Autograph Dog and I headed down. I had an Aliens mini poster already signed by Sigourney Weaver that I wanted to finish.
There was some awesome cos-play at the con. I love it!
The first person we headed to was Carrie Henn. I was pretty excited to see Newt in person. She’s not around a lot so it was great to see her!
Can I tell you how adorable Carrie is? She was so sweet. I kind of geeked out a bit. She was happy to write one of my favorite quotes from Aliens as well.
Then we went over to meet Lance Henriksen. He was so over the top cool.
All of the cast members were but Lance was just so willing to listen to each and every fan that wanted to talk with him. I mean, it was just so sweet.
Then we met Ricco Ross. He was very cool and hung out with everyone waiting.
Mark Rolston was very nice as well. He was also in Shawshank Redemption and a bunch of other films.
Then we met Michael Biehn. He was again nice. Not super chatty but very cordial.
It was a really fun afternoon and I’m so excited at how the Aliens poster turned out!
Until next time kids…
And here’s a recap of meeting Sigourney Weaver
There are very few female stars I love more than Sigourney Weaver. Alien and Aliens are two of my all time favorite films. However, she’s also been in Working Girl, Dave, Galaxy Quest, Gorillas in the Mist, I mean the list goes on and on.
Such an amazing performer and she brings a level of class to any project… Even Alien Resurrection… lol.
This is my favorite memory of Sigourney Weaver. Check it out!
My favorite encounter was at James Cameron’s Walk of Fame Star Ceremony. I’ll have more on James another day.
Sigourney was a guest and she looked amazing. I had my Alien lenticular from the DVD release and an Alien laserdisc as well. Why that’s all I had is beyond me.
She was so kind, and came over to sign and she signed a lot.
That’s not the amazing part. The amazing part is when a street performer and pseudo rapper came over to her, stopped an interview and a rap about her.
What did Sigourney Weaver do? She gave the man a hug… A HUG! I wouldn’t hug a stranger rapping on the street walking around in the hot summer sun without dousing them with purell first. And there’s Ripley just hugging away.
Seriously. Crazy.
Check out the video below. It’s madness!
Until Next Time Kids…
Here’s meeting John Hurt!
I have to tell you, there are acting legends and then there are stars. You know, to me some of the best actors are character actors. They are just so interesting and always play such interested characters.
I’ve been a huge fan of John hurt’s for so long. For those of you who don’t know, John Hurt was in the original Alien… In fact, he was the first person to ever “birth” an alien on screen. John Hurt was also in V For Vendetta, Harry Potter, Hellboy, Contact, Rob Roy, The Elephant Man and more…
John Hurt was doing a rare one man show in the bowels of Culver City. So, armed with my Alien mini poster, my V For Vendetta poster and an art photo, I braved the cold, dark, mean streets of Culver City along with Liz, Gregg, and Scotty. Liz met John Hurt a couple days ago and said he was super nice. Like over the top nice. I’m hoping that’s the same today! LOL…
After a quick stop at Baja Fresh.. I mean, how can you meet a living legend on an empty stomach? And what better to fill a stomach than Baja Fresh? I should be getting kickbacks from Baja Fresh.. LOL…
We headed over to the theater. Scotty was there already and we looked around for a spot to wait. Or thee spot I should say.
Also on this Goonie adventure was MTF reader and all around awesome guy Michael who ironically just sent me a facebook message about this very theater. He’s here with his wife. I aways appreciate those with great taste in actors! Appreciating the truly great actors is something that gets lost on people and fans nowadays.
Gregg is on the side and someone from the theater comes out and asks if w are waiting for John. Gregg says yes, and then he tells us exactly where to stand. You don’t get that everyday.
Sure enough about 10 minutes later out comes John Hurt smoking. He comes right on over to greet all of us. Honestly, he is such a nice man!
I was a little taken aback about how kind he was. He would just sign everything and everything put in front of him. John signed my V For Vendetta mini poster and then my Alien mini poster as well.
He then signed my photo and said, “I’ve never seen this photo!” It’s a pretty famous photo, so I’m a tad surprised.
John hurt signed Scotty’s Harry Potter mini poster and his Contact one sheet as well.
John Hurt was so nice! He signed Michael’s figure as well. Then he did photos with everyone. I mean seriously, one of the absolute nicest people I have ever met.
There really needs to be more evenings like this. It was calm, it was fun and most of all it was a great memory of meeting an acting legend!
Plus, hanging with awesome people is pretty cool too!
Until next time kids…
And then there’s Veronica Cartwright!
7:45 p.m. – Oh, someone’s here… It’s Veronica Cartwright… I race over and pull out my The Bird’s poster. Veronica is super surprised to see it, but is awesome. I’m so excited.
Veronica Cartwright has been in so many of my favorite movies… Witches Of Eastwick, Alien, etc… It seems like she’s in everything, lol…
7:46 p.m. – Veronica takes a photo with another fan and then signs my Alien poster.
I asked her for a photo and she was like sure! I turn to give Pinky my camera and Pinky runs off… Doh! I was like Pinky! Then another collector offers to take the photo for me… lol…
My Alien, Aliens and Alien 3 posters are three of my all time favorites!
Happy LV-426 kids!
