Hello, my lovelies. Pinky Lovejoy-Coogan here still singing along to the catchy tunes of Cabaret in my head. Why Cabaret, you ask? Because last week we had the amazing opportunity to attend the opening night of Cabaret at the Pantages theater in Hollywood.
I’ve been patiently waiting for this play to start here all year long because it stars the one and only Randy Harrison, who was one of the last cast members I’d been wanting to meet from one of my all-time favorite shows, Queer as Folk.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this show. Like, my whole world revolved around it. I loved the relationships, I loved the friendships, and I loved the heart of this show.
I got cable just so I could watch it and lived for it to be on each week. Although it was only on the air from 2000-2005, I still love watching reruns whenever they’re on.
Over the years, I’ve been lucky to meet several cast members (including Hal Sparks, Gale Harold, Peter Paige, Scott Lowell, Robert Gant, and Thea Gill), but the last two remaining (aside from Sharon Gless) were Randy Harrison and Michele Clunie.
So, I was delighted to see Michele Clunie at the opening night. She was so sweet! So were Scott Lowell and Robert Gant. They were awesome.
Gale Harold was there, as well, and wasn’t quite into pictures as I would have liked (read: he totally shot me down), but that’s OK as I’d met him years earlier and already have an OK picture with him (for those of you wondering why I needed another picture with him – it’s because he looked super-hot at the play and he was always my very favorite character on the show).
After the play, I saw all the cast members in attendance walk out together with Randy trailing a bit behind signing autographs. I was able to get my picture – albeit a tiny bit blurry – then and I’m so happy I did! I may have to go back due to the blurriness of the picture, but even if I don’t make it I’m thrilled about meeting him.
Plus, Randy was SO INCREDIBLE in Cabaret as the Emcee. Run, don’t walk, to see it while it’s in town. You will thank me later!
