Manic Monday! Pinky Pulls Out The Hairspray After Meeting Ricki Lake! Meet and Greet Goodness!

I admit, I’m a bit jealous of Ms. Pinky today. I love Ricki Lake! Hairspray is one of my favorite films and while I was able to meet Ricki Lake many many moons ago, I never got her to sign my Hairspray poster! Doh! Bad Fanboy Bad!

I had so much from Serial Mom that I couldn’t get it all done! Doh! That movie is one of my all time favorites and so is Hairspray.

Ricki was also in China Beach another amazing series that everyone should see!

Pinky was able to meet Ricki and she was very kind, check out her recap below!

Hello, my lovelies. Pinky Lovejoy-Coogan here grateful to all of our loyal readers on the site. During this holiday season, we are thankful for you. It’s an honor to write up various experiences for you each week and I appreciate your taking the time to read them.

A few weeks ago, I had the honor of meeting someone I’ve wanted to meet since she first graced our screens as the original Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray the movie. That’s right, I’m talking about Ricki Lake herself.

Not only did she have roles in Hairspray, Cry Baby, and Serial Mom, but she had her own talk show to boot! Keith performed a number with Ricki and a bunch of fellow actors at the 1989 Academy Awards and has always spoken very highly of her. Still, I had no idea what to expect, but when I saw her name on the list of an event, I knew I had to go.

When I arrived, I’d gotten the times of the event wrong and missed her going in. Drat! So, I had a bit of waiting to do before she left. I’d heard she was wearing a hat, so I had my eyes peeled for anyone in a hat. Before I knew it, she was walking my way, so I quickly asked if I could get a photo. She was walking fast and all I heard was a grumble, so I wasn’t sure if that was a yes or no. I sheepishly said, “I’m sorry, was that a no?” She said no, of course we could get a picture, she just wanted to find the valet first, which I totally understand. Ricki seemed a bit rushed and wanting to get out of there, which was totally understandable; I’m just glad she was still willing to take a picture with the few fans who’d been waiting for a bit to meet her. She took pictures with each one before taking off in her car. She was quiet and reserved which was not at all what I’d expected, but perhaps she was just in a low-key mood. Either way, I was super happy to meet her and get a picture with her. I’m also excited to see her cameo in the new Hairspray Live event happening in a few weeks. Should be super fun to see her in the show again!
