I have to tell you, there’s nothing like an amazing encounter or moment to rejuvenate your Fanboy mojo. Pinky was present at the Matt Damon awesomeness and wanted to talk about her moments with the True Grit star.
It’s really rare when someone is so kind and cool and happy to see, even with all his success how nice Matt Damon still is. I think everyone that was there with me is still in shock!
Check out Pinky’s Manic Monday below!
Hello, my lovelies. Pinky Lovejoy-Coogan here to welcome you to Manic Matt Monday.
Why Manic Matt Monday? Because today we’ll be talking about Matt Damon and how amazing he is. I know Mikey already talked about our experience the other day, but I believe good behavior should be rewarded and celebrated, so we should continue to discuss the incredibly cool Matt Damon.
As you probably know, I’ve been doing this picture thing for quite a while now. I’ve seen and met a ton of celebrities with mixed results. Sometimes they can take a picture and be super nice and other times they can begrudgingly take it and make you wish you’d never met them.
Whenever I’m asked who the nicest celebrity I’ve ever met is, I always say Matt Damon.
I first met Matt in 2002 at a small party for Project Greenlight. This was really right after I even started taking pictures with celebrities and was pretty inexperienced with how everything worked. I even had a disposable camera (hence why the picture looks so horrible). Not only did Matt take a picture with me that day, but we ended up talking for about ten minutes about life, Project Greenlight, how his girlfriend had arrived the night before and how they’d played Scrabble at home. It was awesome. At the end of the conversation, I told him I liked his hat. He looked at his friend, and said, “Could you get Pinky a hat?” Not only did he remember my name, but he gave me a gift! Best. Celebrity. Ever.
I’ve been hesitant to really try and see him again for fear that I’d have a bad experience and cancel that one out. Luckily, this time was just as awesome. Matt happily signed and posed for at least ten minutes.
By the end of it, I even asked for an autograph (why not? Everyone else was doing it!) – yes, Mikey, that means I’m Pinky the Grapher now.
I left thrilled with the chance to see Matt again and see that 12 years later he was just as cool to his fans. Thank you, Matt. I wish other celebrities followed your lead.
