Ga-rof-ALO! Meeting 1990’s Icon Janeane Garofalo! And She Was Adorable! Heather Mooney! Autographs And More!
How can you not love Janeane Garofalo? I mean seriously!
First off Janeane Garofalo was in Wet Hot American Summer and its subsequent Netflix spinoff, Reality Bites, Mystery Men and can we forget Romy and Michele? No… no we can’t my friends.
Yesterday, Janeane Garofalo was doing a rare concert here in Los Angeles. Now, it was rescheduled from an earlier date and I was going to go inside to see the show, but because of the reschedule I couldn’t. Doh…
Still I did have some time and I thought I would try to meet Janeane Garofalo as she went inside.
Ace was with me and was super excited about standing in the heat. Let me tell you, it was hotter than the devil’s armpit. And that’s hot. Damn hot.
The one nice thing was that we were really the only ones there. One other guy was milling about but really, it was the hot sun, Ace and I.
But the Mighty Lord spared us and sent us shade which was nice. Ah shade, the poor man’s air conditioning.
So, we paced and waited. Talked about life, caught up on current events, shopped for new hoodies online… You know the normal stuff.
We did get there a bit on the early side, but listen… I love me some Janeane Garofalo. What can I say?
Finally, we see a small figure in the distance walking up with a Coffee Bean in her hands.
Ace scrambled into action, and can I tell you… Janeane Garofalo is the nicest person ever. She was so sweet.
She said, “What, how did you guys know I would wander up from the Coffee Bean?”
We just knew.
Ace had some Dogma posters to get signed, and I had so much stuff. My Romy and Michele presskit, laserdisc, posters for Wet hot American Summer, Mystery Men and Reality Bites.
Janeane Garofalo signed everything and was adorable. She saw the presskit and said, “I’ve never seen this! Look, it’s done like a yearbook. That’s so cute!” Heather Mooney called the presskit cute… Loving it!
Then Janeane Garofalo was kind enough to pose for a photo with me. Super sweet, super casual. Rock on!
My 1990’s loving heart was jumping up and down! Woo to the Hoo!
Until next time kids…
