Manic Mondays! Pinky Wants To Be Jessie’s Girl After Meeting Rick Springfield! Teen Idol Awesomeness!

Hello, my lovelies. Pinky Lovejoy here pondering the passage of time. Namely, how on earth are some of our teen idols now in their 50’s and 60’s?!?!?! Nick Rhodes is 51 (!); Jake Ryan (fine, I’ll use his real name…Michael Schoeffling…) is 53 and perhaps most shocking of all…Rick Springfield just turned 64 on Friday. 64!

When I was younger, I thought that anyone who was 64 was in a wheelchair and headed for a retirement village. These days, it seems like age doesn’t even really matter. 64?!!? I can’t even wrap my brain around it.
 

I’ve loved Rick Springfield since he was pining over “Jessie’s Girl” in the ‘80s. I loved his music and own probably all of his records. I even watched his movie “Hard to Hold” (don’t judge me).

Throughout the years I’ve had numerous chances to see him in concert at various fairs and was thrilled with his engaging performances. That man can rock!

Whether he’s dressed in a tank top, a pink suit (come on – how many people can even pull off the pink suit?!!?), or even an orange jumpsuit (as he did the last time I saw him in concert), watching him onstage is exhilarating. If you get the chance to see him live, I highly recommend it.
 

A few years ago I saw that Rick would be doing at Q&A at the Festival of Books to promote his autobiography, Late Late At Night. I jumped at the chance to meet him and fought my way through the confusion and crowds to finally find his stage. Although the times had been posted incorrectly, I somehow still managed to catch him right as he was leaving. Phew! I love our picture together and the fact that he got his DUI later that night doesn’t even take away from our brief interaction. How does he still look so young and amazing?!!? Has he found the elusive Fountain of Youth? If so, will he share???
