Meeting The Wonka Kids! The Woman In Red, Kelly LeBrock! And Christopher Daniel Barnes! Autographs And More!
It’s so rare when more than half of the MTF crew are able to hang out at one time! One of the few events that could bring us all out? The kids from Willy Wonka of course! All the kids were getting together this weekend and I have this amazing original Spanish one sheet poster that the iconic Gene Wilder has already signed so clearly I had to get the kids to finish it!
Suddenly Susan has a mini poster signed by Gene Wilder so clearly we had to go. Scotty The Music Man is a huge Disney fan and wanted one of the stars of Old Yeller and the Swiss Family Robinson who was also a the show.
When we first arrived we ran into Paul, Jenna and XXX Will. Will wanted to meet the Exorcist star Linda Blair. He paid like 30 bucks for a photo with her. Damn… Like damn.
I wanted to get Stan Lee as well, but to sign my Thor hammer, it would have been 80 bucks and I was like, no… Just no.
After getting over that sticker shock we walked around for a bit. Scotty wanted another item as opposed to his DVD for Disney star Tommy Kirk. As luck would have it, he found a Swiss Family Robinson lobby card. It looks awesome.
So, we went with him to meet Tommy Kirk who was super nice! Scotty was more than jazzed.
Then Susan and I headed over to see the Willy Wonka kids.
We first went to meet Charlie himself Peter Ostrum. He was very nice. We talked about the film a little and did a quick photo as well.
Then we went to see Veruca Salt herself… Ms.Julie Dawn Cole! She had the most adorable sign when we first walked by when she wasn’t there.
Julie was super sweet and was very un-Veruca like.
Then it was time for Michael Bollner who played Augustus Gloop. Michael lives in Germany and its rare for him to be in the US for an event.
Michael again was cool and even looked at everyone’s photo to make sure it took out. He saw my photo and said, “that’s a good one!”
Paris Themmen who played Mike Teevee was next. He was cool, but wouldn’t do a photo as they were doing photos with the full cast later on.
Still he was nice enough to put a little tv next to his signature which was really nice.
And finally Denise Nickerson who played Violet Beauregarde, Denise was so friendly. We chatted about the movie for a bit and she said, “Honestly, I’m the one who really got the golden ticket.” I thought that was so cute.
Then we met up with Pinky and Keith who were running around as well.
We were able to grab a quick bite and hang out which is nice because none of us really are able to do this normally.
After lunch we headed back to the convention. Susan wanted to meet Christopher Daniel Barnes who was in Starman, The Little Mermaid and The Brady Bunch Movie.
He was cool and Susan got to tell him how she wrote him a fan letter back in the day. She got a Little Mermaid photo signed.
Finally, I decided to get Kelly LeBrock on my The Woman in Red counter standee. Gene Wilder signed it and so I had Kelly sign it in red as well. I mean, The Woman in Red has to be signed in red right?
Kelly was adorable and introduced herself and got up to take a photo.. Or three. LOL…
And that was it, we headed out. We had a lot of fun and it was great to see everyone! Plus, my Willy Wonka poster looks amazing!
Until next time kids…
