Hello, my lovelies. Pinky Lovejoy-Coogan here exhausted after a crazy weekend spent at the FanX convention in Salt Lake City, Utah. While there were a ton of great guests there, my primary reason for going was to meet the one and only Robby Benson. I LOVE him!

From the very first time I watched him in Ice Castles (which is one of my all-time favorite movies), I’ve wanted to meet him…and I finally had the chance!

Years ago I was able to meet his Ice Castles co-star, Lynn-Holly Johnson,

but I still couldn’t wait to meet Robby. As he also voices The Beast in Beauty and the Beast, I thought it’d be fun to bring him a red rose (which applies to both movies), but, boy, do I feel silly now.

You see, I thought I was being clever with the rose, but once I got to the show, I saw so many other amazing offerings brought by the fans – they made my roses look like small potatoes. Still, it was Robby Benson!!!

As soon as we got to the convention, I went right to his booth. He was on a break, so I waited for his return and then was able to get an autograph and selfie with him. His beautiful wife Karla was also there and she was a lot of fun, so I made sure to get a picture with her, as well.

I’d also paid for a professional photo with him, but I wasn’t sure what to do with the flowers. Should we hold them together? Throw them up in the air? Finally, I decided we should hold them together. I thought it went well until I picked up the picture and saw that the flowers were partially blocking my face. Sure, it’s not super noticeable, but these pictures cost a lot of money, so I wanted to be sure it was done right.

On the plus side, they offered to do a retake for me. On the negative side, I had to wait to retake it until ALL the combo Beauty and the Beast shots were done with Robby Benson and Paige O’Hara who voiced Belle (and there were A LOT of them). By the end, you could tell Robby was exhausted and I felt bad trying to get the retake. He didn’t even want to hold the flowers anymore, so I actually like the first picture better. Is that wrong?

Overall, it was amazing to finally meet the one and only Robby Benson. Oh – and I even ran into a fellow Mike the Fanboy family member, Suddenly Susan, at the convention! Always great to see her!
