I bet we’ve been together for a million years,
And I bet we’ll be together for a million more.
Family Ties is one of my favorite shows ever! I’m clearly in a classic TV mood! Pinky is too and headed out this past weekend to meet none other than Scott Valentine as Nick!
Woo to the Hoo!
Check out Manic Monday below!
Hello, my lovelies. Pinky Lovejoy-Coogan here still on a high after meeting the one and only Scott Valentine from Family Ties this weekend. As loyal watchers of Family Ties will remember, Scott played Mallory’s “tough guy with a heart of gold” boyfriend, Nick, on the show.
I always loved Nick’s character and wondered what happened to him over the years. So, when I saw that he’d be signing at Dark Delicacies on Saturday, I knew I had to go. But, since I’d never been to the location before, I had to do some recon. First, I did some Google searching of Scott Valentine to see what he looked like now. I’m so glad I did, because it was quite a difference! Second, I texted the boys – Mikey, Scotty, Ace, and DVD Dave – for any tips. Huge thanks to DVD Dave for the encouragement and for having me come down to wait in line with him. Hero! Finally, I made my way over to the shop a little before the signing was supposed to start. Since there weren’t too many people waiting, I was able to see when Scott arrived out back. I wanted an outside shot because of my iPhone (since it’s a lot clearer), so I went out and asked for a picture before he got into the shop. He was so sweet! Our first shot was a bit wonky because of the shade (well, and we’re both making weird faces),
so I’m glad we took another shot. Yes, the white hair makes him look older, but I’ve gotta say, he still had that same mischievous twinkle in his eyes and the same killer smile.
Plus, he was super cool! Here’s how silly I am, though – when I went to take the picture, for some reason the camera hadn’t come on, so what came up on the screen instead was an old picture of Nick from the show! GAH!!! How mortifying. I had that picture on my iPhone to show DVD Dave, but Scott probably thinks it’s my screensaver. D’oh!
When I thanked him for the picture and told him I’d be writing this up for the site, he gave me a high five. Such a Nick thing to do! Loved meeting Scott, as I’ve enjoyed meeting the other members from the show (although I still hope to meet Michael J. Fox, Tina Yothers, and Marc Price someday).
Family Ties was so great and I really enjoyed it. So happy to have met so many cast members over the years!
