Mr Robot Q and A! Meeting Rami Malek! Christian Slater! Portia Doubleday! Grace Gummer! And More!

Mr. Robot has been one of my favorite shows for the past couple years and if you haven’t seen it, the series is so compelling ground breaking and on point.

The cast gathered for a fun q and a and party. The q and a featured cast and crew including: Rami Malek, Christian Slater, Portia Doubleday, Carly Chaikin, Grace Gummer, Stephanie Corneliussen and Sam Esmail.

Before the panel there was a pre-reception with drinks and a photo booth where you can place yourself into the Mr. Robot mask. It was pretty creepy and epic. I loved it!

The panel was a lot of fun and you can tell the easy rapport the cast has with each other.

In talking about season 2 there were a lot of changes for the characters and plot.

“Sam has a tradition and we’re silent for 45 minutes to an hour and he tells us everything. I knew everything from the start and it just felt appropriate from where we left off and I had been thinking about it.” said Portia Doubleday, “In the second season I felt like there was a tempered internal struggle with Angela and that fine line that was fun to play.”

“Honestly, these guys are so brilliant I don’t pretend to know all the answers. These characters are not born on the page they are born with the actors.” Added Sam Esmail. “Without being true, it doesn’t work.”

“It is a moment where Sam will start nodding and you wonder if the nodding is just go away and let me do my thing, or go away and leave me alone.” Laughed Rami Malek, “Sam said early on that casting was very important and casting gets so much of the work done.”

“Johanna has… I don’t know if she’s changed or that we’ve gotten to know her a little better. The question was, where is she willing to go?” said Stephanie Corneliussen, “She is ruthless in some senses, she’s the boss. We use the Macbeth reference a lot but I see her more as Catherine the Great.”

Grace was a new cast member this season and how was it joining the ensemble?

“We got along great!” laughed Grace Gummer, “Such a great cast and the nicest people.”

After the panel there was an amazing party with food and two full bars.

I was able to get Grace Gummer and Carly Chaikin on my Mr. Robot season two poster as well as my promo box set as well. 

Then the cast came out to mingle during the reception. Christian Slater was awesome as usual and we chatted and did a quick photo.

Rami Malek is a quirky guy. He told me not to sell my poster and box set on eBay, lol.

Portia Doubleday is super sweet and I was able to get a picture with her and Carly together which was pretty sweet.

Sam Esmail was also very nice.

I did miss Stephanie Corneliussen and I don’t know how because Billy said she was hanging out the whole time. Doh! Ah well, next time!

It was a really fun evening and it was great hanging out with Billy and Lisa! Such a fun night!
