Tonight was Paleyfest. Now, this year, I decided to be choosy in which panels I decided to pick. I mean, in reality Q and A’s are all over the place now, it’s a way bigger venue and the ticket prices are really high. I mean, they are now charging $10 for the program books they used to giveaway.
But there are a handful of panels I wanted to go to. Orange is the New Black is one of them. I fell in love with the Netflix series and it doesn’t hurt that the creator also did weeds!
It’s a huge ensemble but there were 15 people here tonight, I’m not going to go into everyone because that would be more than a paragraph needless to say, it was a lively group.
Jenji Kohan did a lot of the talking but so did Taylor Schilling who plays Piper!
Some highlights from the panel include the cast talking about what character they would pick as their girlfriend.
The cast talked about the inspirations behind their characters.
Taylor Schilling talked about playing a character based on a book.
Jenji Kohan talked about adapting the book, and something I didn’t realize was that none of the supporting characters appear in the book. They were all created for the series.
One audience member said that one of the criticisms she hears about the show is that Piper is self centered and whiney. To which Jenji Kohan replied… Why can’t there be a series with a lead who is self centered and winey!
It was clear the cast really likes each other just by the chemistry on the panel.
Afterwards… Wow… It was a massive rush to the stage. Thank God I’m tall.
Jenji Kohan and Taylor were on the other side. Taylor Schilling signed about five and ran off.
I did get a lot of people and for the most part a lot of the fans were nice and switched places! I didn’t get Laura Prepon, or Kate Mulgrew who couldn’t seem to turn and sign my poster. LOL.
The part though, was meeting a bunch of MTF Readers! That was so awesome! thanks so much for saying hi!
Until next time kids! If you headed down to paleyfest, send us your recap! I’d love to hear it!
