I had to write about this now, I was going to do this as a fanboy fail for Friday, but you know what… I can’t wait.
Pitch Perfect… A movie that has been built on word of mouth, so much word of mouth that it’s release has been pushed up by two weeks to build up the momentum. Now, who builds that momentum may I ask? Oh… Yeah… Fans. Fans, who go to the actual theater pay their money and see the movie.
So, why did the people who are putting out Pitch Perfect want to fuck with their fans at the premiere of their movie. You would think they would have encouraged people to come out and watch the arrivals like so many other premieres here in Hollywood.
Nope…
Pitch Perfect produced by Brownstone Productions and released by Universal Studios is about a girl acapella group who is finding their groove. I’ve posted about it a few times now and have been super stoked to see it… Until now…
You see, at the premiere, the powers that be made it completely inaccessible for any stars to come over and greet the fans. What did they do? They put up the barricades and press not only in front of the fans who are going to make or break the film, but they literally blocked all access. To get over people would have had to scale fencing and jump through the reporters waiting.
Really cool guys. So many people left disgusted because it was pointless to be there. You couldn’t get autographs, you couldn’t even see the people on the carpet. I could only get a photo of some random blonde guy I thought was Freddie Stroma but who the hell knows.
I know this might be just my frustration, but it seems like these studios and marketing departments use fans when they find it convenient… Oh click this app, go like us on Facebook, Share this super fun video but don’t come to the premiere or anything really cool because we’ll fuck you. I’m just tired of it. I’ve posted about this movie several times and this is how they treat people, it just sucks.
It could also suck cause I’m really tired, lol…
Anyway, I’m going to climb down off my soapbox… Wait… There were actual fans who made giant signs for the stars of the film! Yep, I climbed back on the box… Sorry…
Okay, that was my two cents, I really hope that this is not a continuing trend at public events like this. Because honestly, it’s pretty damn shitty!
Anyone want an Anna Kendrick signed Pitch Perfect mini poster? LOL…
Until next time kids…

Based on this, I will not watch or support this movie. Fuck Universal!
yeah whenever they have the premiere in front of the arclight where they screen the movie in the dome people should just skip it since its useless that no one can or will come over.
Sorry for another bad movie premiere Mike.
Steve not true at all. Past premiere for True Blood and Mad Men have been good to the fans. It’s all about the studio what makes or breaks or premiere.
Based on Mike’s report, it has to be somewhat true. Bless you guys who keep going to premieres. They seem to be such a letdown.
Mike, The Walking Dead is at the arclight, do you think it will be a disaster of a premiere as this one was?
Really hate that you had a bad time at the premiere 🙁
On the other hand, would die to have that poster signed by Anna LOL!! I love her, can’t wait for this movie and I’m only lacking her and about two other people to finish my Twilight autographs collection LOL!!!
i think there’s better luck with cable network tv shows when they have it at the arclight dome since they set it up where the stars can come over and sign
Never say never. ALL premiere ALWAYS have a different setup and “rules”.
Just because one premiere “works” it doesn’t neccesarily mean the next one’s going to be good. Frankenweenie was decent BUT I have never seen publicists that were so pushy and rushed to get the celebrities in. And Disney is usually the most cordial to the fans.
