Hello, my lovelies. Pinky Lovejoy-Coogan blown away by the fact that yesterday marked exactly THIRTY YEARS since my beloved Pretty in Pink was released on February 28, 1986.
Thirty years! Where has the time gone? I vividly remember watching it at the local movie theater with my BFF and now it’s been THIRTY YEARS since then?!?! Wow!
While it’s true that I’ve done many, many posts about one of my all-time favorite movies, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to do another one, especially since it’s going to be back on the big screen next month in Los Angeles! That’s right, Street Food Cinema will be showing Pretty in Pink on the big screen at the Million Dollar Theater on Saturday, March 26th at a Prom night! How fun will that be? For additional information, please visit: http://www.streetfoodcinema.com/.
You know we’ll be there in a heartbeat! How could I resist? I still love reading all the behind the scenes chatter about the film and hear how Duckie was supposed to end up with the girl at the end, but test audiences liked her better with Blane. And although Molly herself isn’t my favorite person in the world, my Pretty in Pink soundtrack is still one of my favorite possessions.
It has graced every wall I’ve lived in since 1986 (on a side note, the soundtrack itself is incredible – you should definitely check it out) and the fact that it’s now signed by Molly Ringwald, Andrew McCarthy, and Jon Cryer fills me with joy. Plus, I’ve got a picture with Duckie while wearing the Duckie shirt!
So cool! If you haven’t seen this John Hughes treasure, I could not recommend it more. Happy 30th Anniversary, Pretty in Pink!
