We’re gonna do it!
Yep, a classic of the late 1970’s and a spinoff of the iconic Happy Days! I can only be talking about Laverne and Shirley! I used to love watching this show in syndication as a small wee boy growing up on the cold streets of Detroit. Well, the suburbs… with central air but still the point is the same.
Today’s Pretty In Pinky is about a classic icon of the 1980’s namely Ms. Cindy Williams! I know a blast from the past right? RIGHT! While Ms. Williams certainly hasn’t maintained her huge celebrity status she holds a dear place in the hearts of fans everywhere!
Check out Pinky’s report about meeting the icon after the jump!
Hello, my lovelies. Pinky Lovejoy here to talk about meeting one of my absolute favorites from growing up. Seriously, I must’ve watched hours upon hours of Laverne & Shirley (after Happy Days, of course). They were just SO freaking cool – single girls during the ‘50s who were BFFs, roommates, and almost always had a date.
I can’t think of a more awesome role model than Laverne strutting around with the L on her shirt. And didn’t one of them even date Fonzie?!?! WIN!
Last week I attended an event which had a pretty good list of celebrities. But the main one who caught my eye was none other than Cindy Williams, aka Shirley Feeney from Laverne & Shirley. I’m pretty sure Mikey laughed out loud when I told him who I was most excited for, but I don’t care.
(Editor’s Note: I didn’t laugh out loud, I guffaw’d or perhaps chuckled! M-)
I’d never seen Cindy Williams on any list before so I just had to go! The event was fairly low-key, most celebrities just walked in the front where we were standing. Somehow Cindy snuck in the back, but luckily as soon as I saw her and called her name, she came over right away.
Now, it’s entirely possible that I may have (read: I totally did) quoted, “Schlemiel Schlimazel” to her (the infamous line from the beginning of their show), but she seemed genuinely tickled by it. Didn’t call security or anything (phew!). I’m so happy I was able to meet her and get a picture. Now, if only I could meet Laverne….
