Tonight on a very special Pretty In Pinky… Pinky Goes to the EMMYS! LOL, I’ve always wanted to do a “Very Special Episode” of something, just like when Natalie had sex with Snake on the Facts of Life for the first time or when the cast of Roseanne went to Disneyland for no reason other than Disney bought ABC… Or how about when Jason Bateman’s friend was diagnosed with AIDS on The Hogan Family… Ah… I love the 80’s.
So, before I digress into babble, the lovely Ms. Pinky has sent in a special article about her night at the Emmys this past year. It’s like her annual ritual just like Sundance, and as expected she comes home with the motherload!
Check out her full report! This time on a very special Pretty In Pinky…
Hello, my lovelies. Pinky Lovejoy here to share with you what might possibly be the most exciting thing I do all year – attend the Emmy awards. It used to be that the Sundance Film Festival (and anytime Duran Duran was touring) was the most eventful thing of my year, but for the past two years I’ve had the pleasure of attending the Emmy awards.
Yeah, I know. It blows my mind, too. Seriously, it seems like just yesterday I was sitting in my apartment in Salt Lake City, Utah and watching the Emmys on TV…now I’m actually in the same room as all those amazing TV and movie stars! Blows. My. Mind.
By far, the hardest thing about attending the Emmy awards is finding the perfect outfit (and shoes) to wear. However, no matter what I put on my feet, I always want to cut them off by the end of the night. High heels, low heels, doesn’t matter – the Emmys are misery on the feet. I’ve been fortunate to find some cute dresses to wear – the first year it was a floor length black gown (which I jazzed up with some pink jewelry and pink coloring in my hair) and this year I found a black dress with a pink sash. Considering how bundled up I am at Sundance, it’s fun to actually get to be girly at an event with a lot of stars.
Last year I stumbled upon the exit where a lot of the big stars went out and just happened to find Betty White in the crowd. She was so nice! It was an incredible night. This year I went with Lindsay (from www.iamnotastalker.com) and we had a blast.
It was fun to have a friend with me for all the craze and wonder of the Emmys. My favorite type of picture is when I can get the celebrity holding their Emmy award – plus, they’re usually in an outstanding mood after winning, which always makes things even more fun. My only regret this year was that Melissa McCarthy blinked during our picture. Oh, well. At least she’s holding her Emmy.
The Emmy awards are held at the Nokia theater in downtown LA and the Governor’s Ball is held immediately afterward at the LA Convention Center. Most guests just walk to the ball after the ceremony ends, which is how you can see a lot of people.
This year it seemed like a bunch of people went some secret way – through a tunnel perhaps? I’m not sure. Regardless, it’s hard to explain how it feels to be in the same room with, literally, all your favorites from TV. I have to pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming.
Both times I was able to meet some really cool people and get some great pictures. What a blast! Of course, there are still celebrities who’ll turn you down for pictures, but overall it’s an awesome experience. I still can’t believe I’ve been able to go. Insane.
