Manic Mondays! Pinky Gets Her Birthday Wish To Hang Out With Ricky Schroder! Autographs! And More!

Hello, my lovelies. Pinky Lovejoy-Coogan here completely stoked to have received an early birthday present from my childhood crush (my birthday is tomorrow, BTW, in case you wanted to run out and buy something pink – HA!).

It’s funny, just a little over three years ago I started writing my Pretty in Pinky column on this site and, of course, my very first article was about my true love, Ricky Schroder (you can find the article here).

Of course, that wasn’t the last time I wrote about him either, but that’s only because a fangirl’s crush never dies.

True love lasts a lifetime, you know, and my inner 12-year-old will forever be living in a room decorated with Ricky Schroder’s face. But, I digress. What I wanted to talk about today was the greatest gift of all – that is, when Ricky Schroder himself posted this flyer on his Facebook page the other day advertising a meet and greet event with his beautiful wife, Andrea Schroder, at the Topanga Nordstrom.

Andrea makes these amazing candles that can be found not only at Nordstrom, but at Hallmark and her website www.andreaschroder.com, as well.  In his post, Ricky mentioned that he’d be there, too, and that the first 100 people in line would get a picture and free gift! Of course, all he had to say was he’d be there and it was a done deal for me. How could I stay away? Especially when Mikey so lovingly got me a Silver Spoons lunch box for Christmas a few years back and it was dying to be signed by “The Ricker” himself.
 

As I didn’t want to miss out on being part of the first 100 guests, I arrived at Nordstrom probably way too early. Although I tried to play it cool while buying one of Andrea’s yummy vanilla candles (and getting a free peach one to boot), I totally stood out equipped with my Silver Spoons lunchbox and our last photo together (yes, Mikey, I’m quite a “grapher” now – HA!).

As we all know, there aren’t many people I’d care to get an autograph from, but Ricky Schroder is someone who makes the list. Finally, Andrea arrived and started taking pictures, but The Ricker was nowhere to be found. When she saw my lunchbox, she said, “He’s coming!” but it felt like I’d been waiting forever (apparently forever in Nordstrom is about half an hour). At this point more people were starting to arrive – friends and family of Andrea’s – and I didn’t want to look like a scary lurker, so I went and sat down near the escalators. Not long after, Ricky arrived and totally recognized me.

He was the sweetest! As Keith had been on Silver Spoons and knew Ricky growing up, we’d invited Ricky to our wedding (yes, I would have DIED if he’d shown up).

Ricky not only knew I was married to Keith, but remembered my name and said they’d received our invitation and had totally wanted to come! He signed my lunchbox,

our photo together,

and we took a few new pictures.

Although I’m sure I talked a mile a minute (I’m so nervous around him!), he seemed entertained. I wanted to be sure I got some pictures with Andrea, as well, so we all posed for a few pictures.

It was awesome! Great way to spend my lunch hour for sure – and happy early birthday to me!
