Man, I’m already tired for next week, but I had to do a throwback Thurs to SDCC. I mean hello!
This was a great day with the OUAT cast, Breaking Bad and The Hobbit! Not too shabby!
Check out the full recap below!
Mornings… My favorite thing in the world. Did you notice the sarcasm? Mornings… Favorite… Oh yeah, fun times. Anyway, I’m up and about at the crack of dawn. You see Warner Bros has decided to lump all their signings into one line. Wonderful. This means I’m going to have to fight with True Blood fans, Vampire Diaries fans, Fringe fans, ugh… That alone will probably bring out about 7,000 people. Sigh…
So, I made a decision to get there early. Ugh… Not happy.
6:01 a.m. – I just arrived and spotted Andrew, John and the Other Mike in line and join them. I’m expecting a lot of people today.
6:15 a.m. – I’m here for The Hobbit signing. It’s at 11:15 a.m…. So that would mean I have a signing at 10:00 a.m. for Breaking Bad that I have a ticket for, a signing at 11:00 at Nerd HQ I have a ticket for and if I get it… The Hobbit signing at 11:15 a.m. Something tells me I’m not making it through all of this. lol…
6:34 a.m. – The sun is finally coming out… Nice! This has the potential to be an epic day, or an epic fail I’m not sure which. lol…
7:22 a.m. – I’m in the pens upstairs. Susan is here as well. I’m not sure where Billy is… God bless him.
7:32 a.m. – There is a wristband drawing for Once Upon a Time and I tried to find out where but I didn’t want to spend too much time considering the drawing could start anytime…
8:05 a.m. – The drawing has started. Now, I guess you get to pick one show you want and then draw. If you get it, you get it. If not get to the back of the extremely long line. Ugh…
8:14 a.m. – We’re almost up! The Other Mike drew and got True Blood, Andrew got nothing, John got nothing, Susan got Man Of Steel, and me… I GOT THE HOBBIT! SO STOKED!
8:22 a.m. – I tried to run to the end of the line but it’s stretched past the marina and it looks impossible. ugh… I’m heading to FOX.
8:45 a.m. – In line for FOX. I’m not super excited for a lot of the FOX signings today but I’m going to draw for Fringe. I was told that you can only draw once today. Sigh…
9:09 a.m. – I didn’t get anything. Dammit!
9:22 a.m. – I’m not going to go through again. I have to get to Breaking Bad and the signing starts at 10:00 a.m. Billy and I are heading down…
9:24 a.m. – I found the Once Upon a Time wristband spot and I got one! YAY!
9:35 a.m. – OMG! The Sony booth has exploded! There are people everywhere! I mean I know Breaking Bad is popular but this… This is a bit much! Lord! I think I had to cut through a crowd 8 people deep. Actually it’s more like 11 people deep.
9:46 a.m. – Susan is finally here! We’re getting ready for the signing. The cool thing about Sony is that as far as I can tell they let you bring in one outside item as well. I have my Breaking Bad season 5 presskit as well. It’s fucking rad… No other way to put it. Fucking rad…
9:55 a.m. – And there’s the cast! THE ENTIRE CAST is here! I’m so excited!
10:06 a.m. – Okay, we’re starting! I’m really close to the front so it shouldn’t be long.
10:15 a.m. – As I go through the line no one in the cast has seen the presskit.
Everyone is like oh my God! Look at this. It’s really kind of cool. I wish the Sony booth had given us a cooler piece to get signed but honestly it’s a nice size for framing. Personally I like mini posters but this is good.
10:16 a.m. – Bryan Cranston is so cool People are mobbing him from the massive crowd and he’s trying to sign their stuff as well. Of course this is causing chaos but still God bless him!
The cast is literally flipping through the press book, not one of them had seen it. Aaron Paul said, “I’ve heard about this!”
If Aaron Paul hasn’t seen it you know it’s rare. Aaron turned to Bryan and said, “Have you seen this?” lol… Very funny.
10:23 a.m. – I need to eat. I was up before breakfast at the hotel so I’m running on empty. I got some chicken fingers. The line up hasn’t started yet for The Hobbit signing…
10:43 a.m. – I’m starting to get a little energy back. Susan took off to the Grim signing and since we paid for it, she offered to get me my poster so I could do the Hobbit signing. Sweet!
10:53 a.m. – In The Hobbit line now! I wasn’t sure if I would get this signing or not or if I should get it but you know I’m glad I did. There’s only three members of the cast here but it’s so iconic and The Lord of the Rings films have been so important in my life I wanted to commemorate it. Plus, maybe we’ll get the limited edition comic con poster as well. Good times…
11:04 a.m. – I see the mini posters on the table. Getting excited!
11:18 a.m. – Here they are! The signing is with Martin Freeman, Andy Serkis and Richard Armitage.
11:21 a.m. – Here we go! I have to tell you all three seem super nice.
11:28 a.m. – It’s my turn. Martin Freeman and I chatted about the film for a few seconds.
He is super nice. I was telling him how excited I was for the movie and how it’s a must see. I felt like we talked for a bit, in fact I didn’t get to say much to Richard because I was holding the line up. LOL… Fanboy Fail!
When I got to Andy Serkis, he greeted me with a huge smile and was like “HI!” I told him, I said, “Andy, I’m a huge fan, I love Lord of the Rings, Planet of the Apes, but I have to tell you…” He was like, “Oh my God what!” I said, “My favorite thing, it’s a guilty pleasure… 13 going on 30!” and Andy laughed so hard he pulled his publicist over and was telling her all about it. Then I was like, I actually visited the houses were it was shot, and got photos there. He was like, “You’re kidding!” I was like, “No seriously! I love that movie!”
11:32 a.m. – So fun. I called Susan to see if there was an issue with the Grimm signing and she said it was a nightmare! lol… Oh dear.
11:41 a.m. – Comic Con has now become my personal version of Frogger. I’m dodging people left and right trying to get up to the Once Upon a Time signing. It’s upstairs and since I’m on the convention floor it’s a bit of a trek. Ugh…
11:45 a.m. – Why people stand there and just stare into space is beyond me.
11:58 a.m. – I just got here. Whew. I’m pulling up the end of the line but I’m here. They must have given out a bunch of wristbands because damn there are tons of people here!
12:16 p.m. – The line is moving fast but not super fast. Everyone in the cast is here except Robert Carlyle.
12:23 p.m. – It’s my turn. First up are the writers/producers of the show. I talked to Eddie about the Tron sequel. He said it’s happening. They are only producing it because they’re so busy but he should have a script this week! I’m excited. Then he talked to me about the cartoon series which I haven’t seen yet. Jennifer Morrison is so nice. I was telling her about how much I loved Warrior. Next to Jennifer was Lana Parrilla (who I love!).. Lana remembered me from last night! She gave me a high five and was like, “You got in!” I told her how early I was up and she was like no! I can’t believe how kind she is! Ginnifer Goodwin was next and she is adorable! I talked to her about the end of Big Love and how I liked it. She said she was glad because a lot of people didn’t and I was like I liked how everyone stayed together and even though Bill died there wasn’t any other way to end it really. Josh Dallas was so nice but very quiet.
12:34 p.m. – Whew…. I’m chilling now. Let me tell you how nice the Once cast is… They heard there were fans waiting so they all signed a bunch of posters for the people waiting before they had to leave. So nice!
1:35 p.m. – We saw the Frankenweenie exhibit. It looks really cool and you get a cute little doggie bag as a take home gift. Sweet!
2:34 p.m. – I’m heading over to take a look at the James Bond car and props on display. It’s a pretty cool booth.
2:54 p.m. – Susan just gave me my Grim poster! It’s super cool! She said the signing was bad though. Apparently someone literally grabbed her and ran her through the line. The cast was even trying to talk to her an she was getting pulled through. Um, Nerd HQ is this what you guys do at signings? Harrumph!
3:23 p.m. – I am literally falling asleep while walking. Is that possible? Yep, I think it is. Ugh…
4:09 p.m. – I’m going to see if I have the energy to try the Fringe standby line. Sigh…
5:04 p.m. – Clusterfuck of epic proportions here at the Fringe standby line! Ugh… Needless to say security guards who have no idea what’s going on should not try and manage a line. Ugh… They are so stupid.
5:39 p.m. – I’m waiting on Susan and Billy we’re going to check out and grab some food.
5:46 p.m. – This is a Comic Con miracle! One of the coolest girls I know texted me and said she was coming down to the con and in my delirious haze I look up and there she is, my friend Teresa in the lobby of Comic Con! Out of a 100,000 people I see her! Crazy! If we tried to plan it, it would never have worked out! Keep in mind I was up at 4:30 a.m., am dehydrated, have been running around and Teresa just walked in the door. So… I look like crap and she’s practically glowing! LOL…
6:08 p.m. – There is one of the coolest costumes ever! A guy is dressed like a shrub or tree. He blends really well. LOL… Only at Comic Con kids!
Well, this was a long hectic day, but totally worth it! Breaking Bad, The Hobbit, Once Upon a Time and I got a Grimm poster to boot! I couldn’t ask for more! Plus I had great company as well! Awesome!
One more day to go!
