San Diego Comic Con Day 1! With Josh Holloway & Marg Helgenberger From Intelligence! Wilfred! Beauty & The Beast! Maggie Q & Mekhi Phifer From Divergent! Sherlock! Autographs! Photos! And More!
today is the first official day of Comic Con. I have to tell you as much as I enjoy heading to San Diego… It’s a lot of work. LOL… Today we head out and embark on the festivities.
Since it’s the first day, there isn’t as much going on as the other days. So we don’t have to line up at the crack of dawn. I couldn’t sleep, I guess I was excited and ready to get moving. By some miracle of God I made it first out of everyone! Honestly, that’s never happened before I don’t think. LOL… My early day is done!
I’m being joined by Billy Beer, Suddenly Susan, The Lovely Erica, and the gang. Our first stop is the autograph pulls. There are a few different things today, there’s the Divergent signing, a new show called Intelligence starring Josh Holloway and Marg Helgenberger, Beauty and the Beast, Wilfred at FOX and Enders Game.
Once we got inside there was a long and by long I mean long… queue to get to the autograph area. Finally we get in and I choose the Divergent signing along with Erica, and Billy. Susan went to Ender’s Game.
I was lucky to get Divergent and then I ran over to Intelligence, because it’s a show I’m actually excited about. I was lucky enough to get that one as well! Score! Then I ran to Beauty and the Beast and thankfully I got that one too… Is this the luck of the SDCC con? I don’t want to use up all my luck in one day!
After all the pulling and running back in line and running back again it was time to line up for the Intelligence signing. Billy Beer and I got the ticket along with Suddenly Susan. This was at the CBS booth which to be honest isn’t as cool as in past years. I walked by it five times and didn’t even realize it was CBS! Doh!
They lined us up and then took us down through the convention floor. To say that was a pain is an understatement. Then they sandwiched us up against the rail two by two and we waited… And waited… And waited… In fact, the signing was not 45 minutes late! DOH!
Finally, the cast arrived. I have to tell you in person Josh Holloway is even more charming than he was on Lost! Marg Helgenberger looked really great too.
Susan went up and asked for her poster to be personalized which threw everyone in the signing off kilter. Who’s poster is what? Who was this Susan, lol… They even tried to give her another poster! Could you imagine getting a poster that was personalized “to Susan” lol…
I didn’t get to talk to the cast much however I did say hi to Josh. He really has beautiful eyes. I don’t care who you are, you notice them. Anyway, I said hi to Josh and told him how much I liked Lost.
He smiled and said thanks. Them I talked to Marg Helgenberger about how much I loved China Beach. She looked at me, like really, but I told her how much the show helped me learn about the war and how amazing the characters were.
The poster is really cool too!
So, after that signing, I had time to grab a quick pretzel and meet up with Erica for the Beauty and Beast signing. Since Intelligence was so late we figured that this one wouldn’t start on time either.
Billy, Erica and I ran over and got in that line. That’s what comic con is… A series of lines.. lol… Wait in a line to get done to wait in another line.
After getting a little sustenance we were brought down to the Beauty and the Beast line. Billy Beer really wanted a photo with Kristin Kreuk and was trying to figure out a way to make that happen.
I should note Suddenly Susan didn’t get lucky in the raffle for this one and she said it’s because, “That show hates me.” LOL….
This signing was oh, 30 minutes late and it was a blur. We were all trying to help Billy Beer and I didn’t even have time to say hi really to the cast.
It was that fast. Doh. I like the poster though! Oh well… And no… Billy didn’t get his photo.
Once we were done with the Beauty and the Beast signing, Billy and I noticed that the Wilfred signing at FOX was going on. Now, the Wilfred signing has been a SDCC tradition for me for the past couple years. Last year I had to fight to get in and tried to get a signing ticket at least five times in the morning and got nothing. lol…
We ran over and low and behold made it into the signing line! Hot damn! For the third year in a row! We were Wilfred bound.
Sadly, we realized… No Elijah Wood this year! Doh! I did run into the Wisconsin boys John and Andrew who noticed the same thing in line. Sigh.. Ah well..
The cast was super nice as usual and I like the poster this year!
Then I had to run again to the You’re Next signing that Suddenly Susan got me a wristband for! It’s a new horror film from Lionsgate. The poster is beautiful! I love it. Plus, the autographs are stunning.
The movie is about a group a killers who attack a family during their wedding anniversary. Much like The Strangers!
After that was done… I was getting tired, but there’s no rest for the wicked!
I ran over to the Hallmark booth because I wanted to see what they had on display. They always have something cool to look at.
Plus, there’s the Christmas Vacation ornaments! Chevy Chase! Love it!
I then had to make it to the BBC America booth for the Sherlock signing. I just started watching it. No Martin Freeman or Khan, I mean Benedict. LOL… But still I wanted to go.
Suddenly Susan and I started the line because we then had to run to the Divergent signing at Summit. LOL… Yep, no rest.
The signing started and we were brought to the booth. A man dressed in a Tardis came up. Only at SDCC! LOL… Love it!
The signing was so nice and everyone was so friendly.
Then Susan, Erica and her sisters and I ran over to the Summit line for Divergent. While we were there we realized that they would be switching the cast in the middle so the first half got five members and we got four. Random I know….
We were in the front so we were able to get a lot of great photos of the first set..
I did pass a lovely poster for Red 2. Even at Comic Con Mary Louise Parker is here! Swoon!
The cast switched and we got Maggie Q and Mekhi Phifer and two other cast members. All were super nice and Maggie Q loved my Star Wars shirt. LOL…
Whew… day one is over… I’m more than a little tired… And this… This is the slow day!
Until next time kids…

Actually, Billy did get a picture with Kristen (I snuck it for him), which freaked out the booth since the 45 minute signing turned into a 15 minute one. Kristen and Jay really tried to engage with each person as we were shooed through the line with booth people basically saying “Go! Go! Go!” The most stressed signing all weekend…
For Divergent, the others were a very funny Ansel Elgort (Tommy in the new Carrie movie and just about to start shooting The Fault In Our Stars) and a very charming (and British) Ben Lamb who’s also the upcoming Starz TV series The White Queen.
Great start to the con!
Wow, did we really do all that one day one? I’m tired just reading about it. And, as I said before the Con, fuck Wilfred, hahaha.
susan-im with you…got tired just reading this and lived all of it less BBC and Wilfred..i think we did enders game and some hunger games one that day instead.
its all a blur.
