Scotty Talks About Meeting Star Trek Star Anton Yelchin and Reviews Fright Night 2011!

Fright Night! I’m kind of sad that Fright Night isn’t doing better at the box office… I mean really it deserves to find an audience, and it just isn’t. Perhaps it’s bad timing, lack of word of mouth, remake fatigue, what have you. Anyway, I have to tell you, go see it, it’s a pretty fun flick! You can check out my review here.

Scotty just sent me in his review and his recap of meeting the films star Mr. Anton Yelchin!

Check out his review and report after the jump!

Fright Night Screening / Meeting Anton Yelchin

Walt Disney Studios

Tonight, Mike invited me to go to the screening of the remake of Fright Night. I was excited to attend the screening with him as I was interested in seeing the remake, and to be able to screen a film at a studio is such a treat.

To be truthful, I have not seen the original film since I was a kid. I am sure my friend and I told our parents some silly lie to have them rent the film on VHS. I wanted to see the original again before seeing the new one, but I didn’t have a chance. I am not a fan of most horror films made today as they rely entirely too much on gore over the power of suggestion. The ability for the viewer to imagine what is occurring can be more effective than being visually handed the scene. The new Fright Night did just that. I jumped out of my seat within the first few minutes. We were given a taste of what has been occurring in the suburbs of Las Vegas. We then came to learn that there is a vampire living as a regular citizen. When Charley Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finds out the truth about his neighbor Jerry (Collin Farrell), the scares, suspense, and adventure ensue.

I really enjoyed the film. It made me jump, laugh, and become a new fan of Anton Yelchin and Imogen Poots. I was also thrilled to see Colin Farrell and Toni Collette along for the thrills and adventure. This movie is definitely worth a trip to the theater for a fun evening.

I also had a chance to meet Anton at a talk show taping. Unfortunately, I could not find an official printed image in time for the taping, so I helped Mike and CB get items signed. I did get a picture with Anton, which was just as exciting. He was extremely nice to all the fans waiting and took his time to meet with everyone. An incredibly nice guy who made everyone’s day. Thanks Anton!
