With San Diego Comic Con right around the corner… (Really 2016?) News is starting to leak out about the annual pilgrimage.
FOX has decided, according to The Wrap, to forgo their Hall H presentation this year because they “cannot prevent the piracy of custom trailers and exclusive footage routinely screened for fans in attendance.”
Titles that FOX would have shown or brought to the con would most likely have been a look at the Maze Runner film, the video game Assassins Creed adaptation and possibly an early look at Wolverine 3.
It’s interesting to see the studio involvement starting to wane, but to be honest in my opinion if you’re showing footage to thousands of people, one should expect to share that footage eventually with the general public. In this day and age you can’t keep a lid on everything and I would think that people go to SDCC to create buzz among everyone not just the select few there.
After all, FOX brought Deadpool last year and we all know how that turned out for them!
Perhaps, they are worried that their newer titles are not up to snuff or that the buzz won’t be all positive. Either way, FOX will not be making the theatrical trek to SDCC’s Hall H.
