Shades of Blue held a rare FYC q and a with the stars and producers of the series at the TV Academy, which has been newly reopened.
Participating on the panel were:
Drea de Matteo
Jack Orman, showrunner
It was a lively panel and Jennifer Lopez looked amazing!
“To be honest, when I knew it was Jennifer, I was like okay, I wanna do that.” said Drea d Matteo, “Jennifer Lopez? Sure sign me up. The performances, hands down were some of the best I’ve ever seen hands down.”
Ray Liotta chimed in about what drew him to the series as well.
“I just lied the fact I was playing a bi-sexual cop.” Liotta said with a laugh, “I’ve played bad cops, but not bi-cops! And the writing was great.”
In discussing his character Ray Liotta talked about the sexuality of his character.
“It’s just like… I’ve never killed anybody, I’ve never kissed a guy. It’s playing pretend.” Ray exclaimed, “I did learn one important thing though, and that’s when kissing a girl no stubble because it hurts.”
Jennifer Lopez talked about doing a TV series.
“It wasn’t in my plans, this script came to me via my producing parter and she was telling me about it at my house one day. I just had a take on it, and understood it immediately.” Jennifer mentioned, “When we were in the room, is when I made the decision. I do have to play this role.”
In talking about the state of entertainment for women, Jennifer Lopez remarked:
“Great roles for women are few and far between. I’m blessed because I work a lot, but really great things are rare.”
After the panel, there was a rush to the stage like no other. Ray Liotta and Drea de Matteo took off right away but Jennifer did sign about 10 autographs, I was lucky enough to get my “V” magazine signed really fast.
Sarah Jeffery and Dayo Okeniyi were at the party and hung out with the attendees for a bit.
It was a fun night, and I’m happy I got that magazine signed!
Until next time kids…
