Sigourney Weaver Wants To Come Back As Ellen Ripley In Alien… Can I Get A Hell Yes!

How much do I love Sigourney Weaver? I love her a lot! A lot! She’s amazing.

Sigourney was at the Hero Complex film festival and was there to talk about the Alien trilogy. Now I mention trilogy because I don’t feel that Alien Resurrection ever happened (even though Sigourney was great in it).

It seems Sigourney Weaver wants to come back as Ellen Ripley! And I want her too as well!

Empire Online had a report from the event where Sigourney Weaver said, “There’s more story to tell,” she said. “I feel there’s a longing in certain groups of fans when I meet them for the story to be finished because we really left it up in the air and I feel a bit badly about that because I was part of that decision making process. I didn’t want to make four and five in a bundle. I think it’s hard to make these films all in a big lump. You need time to sort of let things resonate so I can imagine a situation where we could at least finish telling her story.”

At the end of… gulp.. Alien Resurrection, the Betty crashed down on earth and it seemed the stage was set for a fifth movie set here. That never happened as of yet, instead we got Prometheus and Alien Vs. Predator (blech)

Weaver said this about the fifth film being set on earth, “I don’t think Alien belongs on Earth popping out of a haystack, which is where I was afraid it was going to go. I feel it should take place in the far reaches of the universe where no-one in their right mind would go.”

Ripley also said, “very few filmmakers that I can think of that I would want to entrust this to.” Which is true, the first two movies are classics. Sadly, we’ll never see David Fincher’s vision of Alien 3 which I’m sure would have been amazing, and the fourth, let’s just stop there.

“I certainly know young filmmakers who are interested in doing it,” she teases. “I haven’t done anything about it, but it could happen, and I think that would be very satisfying, at least to me…”.

I would love to see a fifth film in the series, it would be awesome to tie up Ellen Ripley’s story. Even if she is an Alien hybrid clone at this point.
