Every Wednesday, I think to myself… I don’t have a Jekyll Or Hyde… What to do. Then I pause… I think and I say, Oh wait!
You may remember one of my rants about one of my favorite singers of all time Shirley Manson… Love her! She hasn’t been that cool, at least to me this year. Scotty can cross the street going to Ralph’s, run into her and have her sign everything in his house! Me… nothing… Doh..
BUT a long long time ago Shirley Manson was in the cast of a series called Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which I loved! They did a signing at Golden Apple comics and Shirley Manson was there and was so nice!
Check out this Jekyll Or Hyde after the jump!
On a beautiful Southern California afternoon about 300 people gathered on Melrose Avenue. Why you may ask? To have a meet and greet with the cast of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Why was I there… Two words…Shirley Manson! Joined by my friends Scotty and Erica, I braved the L.A. traffic, and almost had a fit trying to find parking, but it was worth it! Not only did I get to meet Shirley, but I also got a picture with Summer Glau and met one of the most fan friendly casts on television. If you haven’t checked out Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles tune in to FOX Monday nights at 8:00 p.m.
3:10 p.m. – I finally arrive at Golden Apple comics. If I ever decide to take the Highland exit off the 101 please beat me. Traffic was backed up for over an hour for no reason! Was it the giant Elephants at Hollywood and Highland? I have no idea, but everyone decided to stop… just stop. Grrrrr…Thankfully, my friend Scotty is holding a place for me in line. Sigh…
3:20 p.m. – Parking on this side of town is a bitch! Finally, I found a two hour parking slot, which means I have to pray that someone from Los Angeles parking enforcement does not come by from 5:20 to 6:00 p.m. Double sigh.
3:21 p.m. – I get up to Golden Apple comics; there are about 250 people in line. I heard they are doing a Q and A, autograph signing, and showing the second episode from season 2. How are they going to fit all these people inside?
3:22 p.m. – Indie 103.1 is here and they are playing Stupid Girl by Garbage. I love Shirley Manson!
3:25 p.m. – I see my friend Scotty. He’s been in line for a couple hours, and thank God otherwise we would have been in line forever! I get to join him (yes he told the people behind him I was coming, so I don’t feel bad for cutting…. Don’t shame me!). He has about 7 things for Ms. Manson to sign if he can. Do you think he’s a big fan?
3:26 p.m. – There’s Erica, my San Diego comic con buddy. She’s very hard core about her autographs and is in town from Chicago, so this is a nice treat.
3:27 p.m. – Oh, free crap. Scotty just gave me a promo cup for T: TSCC. I love free crap!
3:33 p.m. – Erica is hungry and is taking off to get some food. A car decked out in T: TSCC decals pulls up. It’s actually pretty cool looking. Summer Glau is on the hood. She is hot! Oh, Indie 103.1 is playing #1 Crush! It’s like a Garbage marathon!
3:45 p.m. – There are about 50 – 100 more people in line. Damn, this is a pretty popular event!
4:12 p.m. – Erica is back, and she brought food. Beautiful women bringing me food with Garbage playing in the background (I’m only Happy When it Rains) is like heaven!
4:15 p.m. – I was talking to the guy behind us, and he flew in from New Jersey for this event. Someone else came in from Oklahoma. Damn, dedication. Thank God I live in Southern California!
4:33 p.m. – Scotty is showing us all his stuff for Shirley; he has a promo Calvin Klein ad, a limited edition promo for the Garbage single Special, some magazines, and more. I came armed with my Garbage flat and my script from 90210 already signed by Tori Spelling. She actually gave it to me personally. (For those of you who do not know, Brian Austin Green is in the Terminator cast)
4:44 p.m. – Oh, the line is moving! Shirley Shirley Shirley!
4:59 p.m. – John Connor (Thomas Dekker) just came out and is walking the line greeting fans. Very cool. But really, he needs to lay off the eyeliner; I don’t understand why guys wear eyeliner!
5:10 p.m. – The line is moving again. Scotty is getting really nervous. He asked Erica to get something signed for him.
Golden Apple is passing out promo bags with posters, T-shirts, and a backpack. More swag!
5:22 p.m. – Here we go; first in line is Brian Austin Green. Such a cool guy.
I asked him if he wouldn’t mind signing the 90210 script and he said he would be honored. Such a cool guy.
Actually everyone in the cast is really nice and humble.
5:23 p.m. – Garret Dillahunt is next in line. Again he is really friendly, and polite. Summer Glau from Firefly is after him. She signed my poster and I asked if I could get a picture, and she was like, “Sure!” She is so beautiful in person!
5:24 p.m. – Scotty is approaching Shirley who is last in line.
She says hi, and Scotty says to her, “I think I’m going to pass out!” Shirley goes, “Oh no, don’t do that!” He is very excited.
You really need to hear Shirley say the above line in her Scottish accent. It’s so funny. She took the time to sign EVERYTHING Scotty had, even though he didn’t ask her to. The rest of the cast kept pulling everything out of his hand to look at it. They are so cool.
5:25 p.m. – Thomas Dekker is talking to me about Shirley, and said, “It’s like she has this whole other life.” I then held up my Garbage flat, and Thomas yells out, “Shirley look!” Shirley looked over and just laughed.
5:26 p.m. – I got to meet Shirley! (This is actually my second time meeting Shirley, so I understand how nervous Scotty is. You should have seen me the first time!) She signed my poster and flat, and I got a picture with her as well. She is so sweet!
5:27 p.m. After going through the line, Erica spotted Josh Friedman one of the producers hanging out in the back. So we got him to sign our posters as well. Such a fun day, and one of the coolest casts ever. Very friendly and they took time to meet every person. A great time!
So, on this day, Ms. Shirley Manson is Mr. Hyde!
For being awesome, Shirley Manson gets the Happy Theo Award!
