The 2014 FILM INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARD NOMINATIONS! Julianne Moore! Michael Keaton! Emma Stone! And More!

The Independent Spirit Award nominations were announced today, and for those of you who were not aware of the Spirit Awards, they honor indie filmmakers.

The rules are looser than other awards shows, but the films have to be released by an indie studio and have a budget of less than 20 million dollars. This is why you don’t see films like Wild or The Grand Budapest Hotel in the mix.

The nominations always include Oscar frontrunners like Michael Keaton, Julianne Moore, and Edward Norton. But also it gives smaller films the chance to shine as well.

Check out the nominations below!
