The Go-Go’s Walk Of Fame Star Ceremony! Belinda Carlisle! Jane Wiedlin! Charlotte Caffey! Gina Schock! Kathy Valentine!

“Vacation, all I ever wanted, Vacation happy to get away…” God, I love the Go-Go’s… I really mean it… I got the beat, and my lips are not sealed about it… And before Pinky can can say, “Oh no you didn’t” yes… Yes, I did… The whole world may have lost their heads, but I am for one am head over heels for the first ladies of pop…

Anyway, today the Go-Go’s are getting their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and I am super excited to see them… One of the best memories I have is attending my first Go-Go’s show… My father had just passed away and it was a very hard time for me… a couple months after his passing the Go-Go’s released their album called God Bless The Go-Go’s and performed a free concert at the now defunct Warehouse Music at the Beverly Connection. The show was so great and it was the first time I had fun since he passed, so I have a little soft spot for the Go-Go’s….

9:01 a.m. – I just arrived and already there are like 30 people here… damn! I really didn’t expect it to be this insane… Ah well… What can you do right?

9:11 a.m. – I found a moderately decent spot but I’m still pretty far over to the side… Ah well… Thank God the sun isn’t very strong yet…

9:37 a.m. – I brought my original Rolling Stone magazine from 1984 with me as well as a couple picture discs… One is the We Got The Beat/Our Lips Are Sealed limited edition 7” and the other is the Automatic picture disc… Super cool stuff…

10:04 a.m. – CB said he is coming to help me, and he has Scotty’s Vacation LP as well…

10:16 a.m. – Wow, the crowd is really growing… Honestly, I didn’t realize how passionate the Go-Go’s fan base is… huh… I’m hoping that they do another new album… I know, I know it probably won’t happen but you never know right?

10:43 a.m. The Bettie Page store on Hollywood Blvd is the former location of the first club the Go-go’s ever played in… The store did some fun window displays to celebrate the day for the band.

10:45 a.m. – Oh, there’s Pinky from Pretty in Pinky fame… she loves Belinda Carlisle… She got here pretty late though…

11:05 a.m. – The crowd is about six people thick… CB just arrived and is worming his way up… lol, God bless him…

11:13 a.m. – The drummer for Blondie is here, Mr. Clem Burke just arrived… I think he’s going o give one of the speeches…

11:15 a.m. – They just let the guests in… damn it’s super packed more than I’ve seen for other ceremonies like this…

11:17 a.m. – Oh, a tour bus is pulling up… It’s the Band!

11:19 a.m. – I can barely see them… Damn, I wonder if any of them are going to sign…

11:21 a.m. – There is a guy with a large light up sign for the Go-Go’s show at the Greek Theatre…

11:25 a.m. – It’s getting closer to starting…

11:34 a.m. – The Chamber of commerce speaker is at the podium now… He’s giving the band their certificates…

11:43 a.m. – Now, Clem Burke is giving his speech…

11:45 a.m. – The band is up now! Jane Wiedlin is going first… She is so cute, it’s shocking to see her with blonde hair though! lol…

11:47 a.m. – Belinda Carlisle says a few words… As does Gina Schock, Kathy Valentine, and Charlotte Caffey…

11:53 a.m. – Now the photos must be taken… lol…

11:56 a.m. – Oh, Jane Wiedlin is coming over to the crowd to sign… damn she’s on the other side though… ugh… We start yelling for her… Kathy Valentine is signing for the crowd over there too….

11:59 a.m. – We are waving Jane Wiedlin over to us and she’s pointing at us… Jane and Kathy are coming over! YAY!

12:04 p.m. – Jane signs up a storm on our side, and Kathy Valentine is super nice as well… I mean like over and above…

12:06 p.m. – Belinda Carlisle, Gina Schock, and Charlotte Caffey are all signing on the other end… dammit!

12:10 p.m. – The band is now going inside the Bettie Page shop… Crap… CB and I are running around to try and get them…

12:15 p.m. – We are now waiting by the shop exit… Charlotte Caffey is coming out to sign… She apparently hates the Rolling Stone I have and practically signs on her face… Ah well…

12:18 p.m. – Gina Schock is now signing… Everyone in the band is super nice… Although no Belinda… Ah well…

12:23 p.m. – The Band is now heading onto the tour bus… Ah well… Still, I got three things signed by all the members sans Belinda Carlisle so I feel pretty lucky… And it’s always nice to come to these ceremonies and be part of the history of the Walk of Fame!
