Throwback Thursday! Underworld Edition! Kate Beckinsale Proving Once Again How Saucy And Awesome She Is! Autographs! And More!
This was a while ago, oh gosh about three years now. I love Kate Beckinsale, LOVE HER! She’s stunning and super sweet to her fans. Seriously, there was one time she took photos with people all the way down Hollywood Blvd when it wasn’t even her film.
With the news that Underworld 5 has started shooting, I thought it was a perfect time to talk about one of the times I’ve been lucky enough to meet her. Swoon!
Check it out below!
One of my crushes since like… Oh gosh… I’m not throwing out a date because then I’ll seem really old, lol.. but one of my crushes since I was a kid is Ms.Kate Beckinsale. Love her! I’ve met Kate a few times now but it’s always a thrill and I’m so stoked for Total Recall! I’m really crossing my fingers it’s good. Anyway, Kate Beckinsale was doing a rare talk show appearance and so I headed over. I didn’t have much time today so I’m not holding out much hope. Plus, it’s rainy, muggy and just an odd day.
Still… Crossing my fingers!
7:32 p.m. – I just arrived and I’m pulling up the rear of the 60 person line. Kate is already in and apparently from what I was told, looked over but didn’t wave as she went inside. Not boding well.
7:34 p.m. – I’m about to break out the fruit ninja app on my phone when I notice Red Bull is in front of me. Now, you guys probably heard about the scuffle, my post on autographing etiquette, etc.. and Red Bull turned around and talked to me about it. While I would have rather played fruit ninja, I love that damn game! Still, I am more than open to hear anyone out. Honestly, I can’t tell you the specific points we threw back and forth cause my memory isn’t that great, I wish I could because it would have been interesting to hear people weigh in with their thoughts but…
I have to be honest…I don’t agree with any of the points that Red Bull made to me in regards to his position on the incident, however I have to give him props for talking to me about it, civilly, respectfully and even though we were on opposite sides of this debate we were actually able to have a mature conversation about it. Which, again to be honest, I never would have thought would have happened. So, I give him props for that, I give credit where it’s due and to an extent I enjoyed the debate/conversation. MTF reader Kurt was there and chimed in a couple times as well. You know, I would rather someone say something to me if they have a problem than not say something. So, for what it’s worth, I’m glad we had that debate.
7:49 p.m. – I brought my Total Recall mini poster and a mini poster for a tiny indie film Kate did years ago called Cold Comfort Farm. I love that move! It’s one of those rare finds that has always stayed with me. Everyone has those movies that if feels like no one else has seen and they are “yours” well this is one of mine. I’ve introduced so many people to it. If you like whimsical English tales or Gosford Park or Downtown Abby I think you’ll like it, so I would give it a spin!
7:55 p.m. – Oh crap everyone is yelling! Shit Kate is leaving! I’m expecting to hear she went right to her car but slap my ass she’s coming over!
The only thing that sucks is that I’m so far back the barricade has ended and it could be chaotic! Dammit!
7:57 p.m. – Kate is moving super fast down the line. Damn she has great hair. Seriously, she’s like a living Panteen commercial.
7:58 p.m.- Oh Lord Kate started taking photos. And here’s the thing. I would rather have ten seconds with Kate to say something then get 4 things signed.
I would rather get two and have a short conversation then get everything I have done. I know, I know, but that’s me. I like the autographs but it’s also the experience. God, Kate Beckinsale is stunning! STUNNING!
8:01 p.m. – Kate is near me now. Kate signs my mini poster of Total Recall then sees My Cold Comfort Farm mini poster. And she just stopped. I think she was a tad speechless. If I pulled out my DVD of Go Fish that would have blown her away! LOL… I said, “Kate, I love this movie!” Kate said, “It’s such fun isn’t it! I had the best time making it!” Then I asked her to personalize it, and I told her I quote it all the time. She said, “Really?” I’m like, “There’s something nasty in the woodshed” LOL… I’ve been quoting that for years.
Then I asked for a photo and Kate was like sure.
A really nice guy took it for me, sadly I look like crap, but still a crappy photo with Kate Beckinsale is still a photo with Kate Beckinsale! Kate actually signed more and came back to do the photo with me which I thought was so so so so so sweet. Swoon!
Sigh… Such an interesting and fun night. LOL… I also got to meet MTF reader Marc, God I’m so bad with names, I think it’s Marc… Once you meet Kate Beckinsale your brain turns to jelly. It’s a rule, meet the Beckinsale, swoon, and lose brain cells. You can’t really help it!
Ah good times…
God, I love Kate Beckinsale!
Until next time kids…

I was there Mike! I was one of the first 10 people in line. This was a good rebound from the Katy Perry debacle that I went to *smh* I took a photo with Kate but my picture came out more crappier than yours. Because when I snapped the photo, she accidently was looking the other way and I couldn’t get another one haha. I had my Maxim magazine with me, but I didn’t get it signed because her publicist said “One item person” But I seen alot people with a few items signed and even got a picture with her hmmmm. How did they get away with it? Anyways, I still went home a happy man. I say, it was a successful night.
Hey mike it was nice meeting you today, i visit this site open and enjoy the funny blogs of meeting celebrities and sometimes not lol. I agree with William that this was great compared to the katy perry debacle. I like this set up better where its a long barricade going down the alley where everyone has a front row view instead of the one or two barricade that blocks you off from the alley and you have 5 plus rows deep since there’s only a small amount of people that can be in the front. And being in the front of the that barricade you get pushed, shoved, crushed, and have people holding things over your head blocking your stuff that you want to get signed. I wonder why they keep switching back and forth on the set up unless they do it by how big and famous the celebrity is, in that case that should of done the katy perry set up the way they did today down the alley. Also what i liked about the crowed today was that once kate came over everything was pretty calm and not pushy pushy like other times especially the katy perry time, but that could also be due to the barricade set up where they had front rows. When kate arrived today and went in she didn’t really look back or wave but the crowd was screaming for her loud and like crazy. But when she came out she was nice and sweet and signed and took pics even though her publicist and the security guy said no pictures only one autograph. Yeah i saw red bull talking to mike and at times mike didn’t look interested in talking and was looking at his phone instead lol. I talked to some people in line that despised red bull and tried to hide and cover their faces when he walked by them. I overheard him talking afterwards about only getting one thing signed and wanted a second one but kate publicists lied to her about him about something so that she wouldn’t sign for him again. Another paparazzi i talked to there said there’s like a court other against red bull and that they are going to use all the videos of him on youtube against him. Overall good day it wasn’t crazy like other times and kate beckinsale was nice to sign and take pics and everyone got something or two despite her people saying no pics and only one thing to sign. Also met mike, cool dude, keep up the good work in this site and see you at future events!
You have to stop having short people take your photo. It just never turns out well!!!
She looks amazing though!!
Good deal Mike! God bless Kate!
Mike I know what you said about the bull. But just be aware “we” can’t all be wrong on the type of character he is. Which that he is a major AHOLE. Proof is in the many stories and videos that have been posted.
Just be careful.
@Steve – The set-up depends on whether or not there’s an outdoor concert. When there’s an outdoor concert, they have the fans stand on the side with the small barricade. When there’s not, then they stand on the one you were on last night (which I totally agree is a better side). Hope that helps! 🙂
thanks pinky for that info i’ll keep that in mind next time so i’ll know for next time and what to expect and when if to get there earlier. So here’s the vid from the event from last night and you can see kate say really at the 3:02 mark the way mike wrote about it…..
another thing i forgot to mention was that the people i talked to in line that don’t like red bull said that sometimes when security, specially SEM security, the company that usually gets hired to do movie premieres, said that when those guys see red bull they avoid that area completely. So take that with a grain of salt next time you are out waiting for a celebrity and red bull happens to be next to you and in your area
Pinky,
Both sides have an advantage. Really hard to say which is better. Crowdwise I do like the side closests to the Rosevelt because the barricade is set up better with a single file line. However the lighting is dark and it’s hard for the celebrity see you. I know the other side by the El Capitan is a cluster FU BUT the celeb has to come towards you to get to their car and they will see you better. Again hard to say.
it is awesome. I wish i can be there.
